Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women’s softball team broke a five-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon splitting a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) games versus the visiting Wells College Express losing the opener 6-5 then taking the nightcap by a 12-11 margin in 11innings at Fighting Tiger Park. With the split Cobleskill moves to 2-6 overall on the season with a 1-1 mark in conference action while Wells improves to 1-9 overall on the year with a 1-5 NEAC record.
In the first game the home team saw a 3-2 lead disappear in the seventh inning as The Express pushed across four runs in the tip of the frame as opposed to the two that the Orange & Black could post in the bottom of the inning.
Freshman second baseman Quesha Sells, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, was a factor at the plate for the Fighting Tigers in the game going 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and a RBI while sophomore catcher Gabrielle Danthine, Sloansville, N.Y., Schoharie High School, went 3-for-4 with a double a run scored and a RBI.
With the second game tied at nine after seven innings, Wells struck for a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to take an 11-9 lead heading into the bottom of the inning.
The Fighting Tigers then showed their claws putting runners on first and third for junior third baseman Hannah Hoffman, Troy, N.Y., Averill Park High School/Hudson Valley Community College, who promptly tripled to right center field to tie the contest at 11-11. After Cobleskill subsequently loaded the bases, Hoffman scored the game winning run on a walk-off single by sophomore right fielder Eternity Coons, Rensselaer, N.Y., Rensselaer High School, to end the nearly three hour long affair.
Hoffman was the hitting star of the game going 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a triple, two runs scored and six RBI while sophomore second baseman Georgiana Crisci, Newburgh, N.Y., Valley Central High School, went 4-for-5 with four runs scores, a double and a RBI.
Gabrielle Danthine continued her hot hitting in the nightcap going 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI while Eternity Coons posted a 2-for-5 effort with a double and the game winning RBI.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action when they take to the road on Sunday, April 9th, for a 1:00 p.m. NEAC doubleheader versus Keuka College in Keuka Park, N.Y.  Wolves’ Campus Softball Field.
