Schoharie ARC Partnerships Fund Charity Partnerships

Schoharie County ARC's Toe Path Redemption Center has been working with the Wright-Schoharie Valley Lions Club on a collaborative recycling effort. Every Saturday morning, Jim Lord greets smiling faces of those returning cans & bottles at the Town of Wright Transfer Station. Mr. Lord saves the returns for pick up from the Schoharie ARC's Toe Path Redemption Center. The recycling efforts help raise over $2,000 to benefit many local charitable programming efforts sponsored by the Wright-Schoharie Valley Lions Club including: hearing and sight initiatives, scholarship and student leadership programming, the Regional Food Bank and the Joshua Project to name only a few. Pictured are David DiNicola, General Manager for Schoharie ARC's Toe Path Redemption Center; Jim Lord, Chair of the Lions Club Recycling Program and club director; Tom Snowdon, the Club's vice-president; and Kirk Playford, an employee at the Toe Path Redemption Center. Schoharie ARC has also partnered with the local Lions Club on other fundraising projects including pumpkin sales. Donations of redeemable cans and bottles (and other recyclable items) can be made at the Town of Wright Transfer Station on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00 and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m.) For more information on the Lions Club, their recycling program and their charitable efforts, please contact Ellen Snowdon at snowdeersnow@msn.com. Schoharie County ARC Legacy of Love Gala Set for April 5th

The Schoharie County Arc Legacy of Love Gala will take place from 7-10 p.m.  on Saturday, April 5th at the Days Inn & Suites of Schoharie. Lydia Kulbida, on-air News Personality for WTEN in Albany, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.  

The event will also feature musical entertainment by Patrick Michael Del Rosario, a Spirit Grab and the live drawing of the Las Vegas Getaway raffle (4 nights/5 day stay at the MGM Signature Hotel including a cash prize of $1250 to cover airfare and expenses).  

Over 100 items will take center stage in the area’s largest silent auction including: tickets for performances and sporting events, jewelry, home furnishings, tools, gift baskets, beauty products, overnight stays and day trips; an assortment of gift certificates for items such as massages, health and beauty services, auto maintenance, dining out, and a variety of other merchandise too good to miss.  

Doug Cater will serve as the Auctioneer for the Live Auction. This year’s live auction will feature an iPad air, a Belgard Fire Pit kit, a load of crushed stone, tickets to the ballet at SPAC, an overnight stay at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, a digital camcorder, a Herkimer Diamond Mine Adventure Package, tickets to the Glimmerglass Opera, tickets to a NY Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox game, and a gift certificate for the landscaping services of Cedar Ridge Landscaping. 

The cost to attend the Legacy of Love Gala is $35 per-person (in advance) or $45 at the door. Las Vegas Getaway raffle tickets are $30 each and a limited number is available. Event information is also available online at www.schohariearc.org  

All proceeds from the event and the raffle will benefit the Schoharie County ARC Foundation, which helps support un-funded and under-funded needs, supports and opportunities for people with developmental disabilities served by the Schoharie County ARC.

Schoharie County ARC To Host Blood Drive in March

Schoharie County ARC will host a blood drive on Thursday, March 13, from 1-6 p.m. at the ARC Campus on Route 30 between Middleburgh and Schoharie.

The blood drive is part of the NYSARC Gives Back Project, which includes ongoing efforts to give back to the community through volunteer programs and by providing essential supports and services to people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families.


To schedule an appointment to give blood, please call (518) 295-8130 or 1-800-RED CROSS. You may also schedule an appointment online at www.redcrossblood.org.  Those donating blood in March will receive a limited Edition Red Cross decal.
