DELHI, NY—Bushel invites the public to a closing event for their current exhibition on Sunday, March 26, 5–7 pm. The event begins with a screening of scenes from Afterthought, a film in progress by director Charlotte Juergens. It will be followed by a conversation between Juergens and artist Laura Taylor and a closing reception for their co-curated exhibition “Commemorating COVID.” Coinciding with the third-anniversary of the COVID lockdown, the exhibition features five COVID memorials that recognize and represent grief in different ways.

Charlotte Juergens’ Afterthought is a documentary feature, currently in production, that looks at COVID memorials and the people who build them. It centers on two projects: a community memorial in Detroit involving thousands of participants, and one artist’s personal memorial in NYC commemorating the loss of a friend. In documenting these stories, Afterthought memorializes individuals lost and communities changed by the pandemic and asks universal questions about shared trauma, memory, and healing.

Charlotte Juergens is a filmmaker, archival producer, and history scholar from Brooklyn, New York. She recently directed the feature documentary Sunken Roads, which premiered theatrically in 2021. As an archival producer, Charlotte has collaborated on numerous film, museum, theatrical, and network news projects. She is currently pursuing a PhD in American Culture at the University of Michigan, where her work focuses on the public memory of pandemics (past and present). Charlotte holds an MA from the University of Chicago and a BA from Yale. (

Laura Taylor studied at The Ontario College of Art, Le Université du Quebec à Trois-Rivières, and at The New York Studio School in New York City. She has been awarded residencies at Kulterrmodell in Passau, Germany; Treffpunkst in Ried-im-Innkreis, Austria; Governor’s Island in New York City; and the Vermont Studio Center. Exhibitions include: AIR Gallery, The Painting Center, Brenda Taylor Gallery, RKL Gallery, the Salzburg International Art Fair, Bushel Collective, Wired Gallery and more. (

BUSHEL is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, volunteer-led, mixed-use space dedicated to art, agriculture, ecology, and action. It is located at 106 Main Street in Delhi. For more information, go to
