SUNY COBLESKILL WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT 2023 CORTLAND RED DRAGON OPEN INVITATIONAL


Cortland, N.Y. The SUNY Cobleskill women’s outdoor track & field team returned to action on Saturday to compete at the 2023 SUNY Cortland Red Dragon Invitational hosted by the Red Dragons at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. The Fighting Tigers recorded a number of solid efforts at the non-scoring qualifying meet featuring teams for all-levels of competition and unaffiliated athletes. 

Sophomore multi-event athlete Lilah Ward, Arlington, Vt., Arlington High School, turned in the top finish of the day placing third in the High Jump by clearing a height of 1.55 meters while finishing 12th in the 200-Meter Dash in a time of 27.87 seconds while first-year multi-event athlete Lilly Swyers, Peru, N.Y., Peru High School, finished fourth overall in the Triple Jump with a mark of 9.93 meters while placing 10th in the 100-Meter Hurdles in 17.88 seconds. 

Cobleskill also received solid efforts from first-year multi-event athlete Jessica Carney, Hopkinton, N.H., Hopkinton High School, who placed seventh in the Javelin with a mark of 28.08 meters, first-year jumper Shealinn Stevens, Otego, N.Y., Unatego High School, with a seventh place finish in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.71 Meters and from junior Katherine Ledermann, Altamont, N.Y., Guilderland High School, in the 800-Meter who finished in 16th place with a time of 2:43.89. 

The Orange & Black will next be in action on Saturday April 15 when they return to Cortland, N.Y. for the 2023 Cortland Upstate Challenge hosted by SUNY Cortland at the college’s SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex beginning at 10:00 a.m.
