GALLUPVILLE — The Gallupville House Association (GHA) met on Monday night for their first official meeting of 2024. At the top of the agenda was a conversation and planning for the Lincoln Luncheon scheduled for February 17th. The event will be a Civil War-era-themed lunch with President Lincoln, with the concept being that it is February 1965, and many signs point to the war’s end. Thirty reservations will be available and must be paid in advance, with any interested parties required to email gallupvillehouse@gmail.com for their ticket.
The event is the brainchild of GHA member Richard Sherman, who will also perform at the luncheon with his musical act, Uncle Billy’s Balladeers. Following the lengthy planning required for the event, the group discussed other upcoming events. In March, the group plans to host an “Evening of The Arts” which will include music and artwork performed and created by Schoharie Central School’s students and an annual Easter Egg Hunt.
GHA president Scott Hadam and volunteers have been preparing the Gallupville House’s interior for a repainting project, aiming for it to be completed by the end of the month. The renovation has encountered a complication with a recent failure of one of the furnaces. The failure’s cause was unknown at the meeting, but the hopes were that it would be a fixable problem. Recently, there had been a lack of water in the historic building.
Scott Hadam informed the group that a “long-term temporary fix” was in place and the water issue should be resolved; however, if the heating issues worsen, it could jeopardize events in the colder months. The GHA agreed to postpone the first open mic of the year because it would have conflicted with the Super Bowl. The Second Sunday Open Mic will resume in March.
