Walton – Today, Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrest of a Huguenot, NY man for Driving while ability impaired by the use of drugs, endangering the welfare of a child and violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
On December 30th, 2023, Sheriff Deputies observed a vehicle driving erratically while in the Village of Walton. Upon conducting a traffic stop, Deputies identified the operator of the vehicle as Anthony Oreggio, age 49 of Huguenot, NY. During the course of the traffic stop it appeared to Deputies that Oreggio was under the influence of drugs.
As a result of the investigation and after a drug influence evaluation, Deputies arrested Oreggio for driving while ability impaired by the use of drugs an Unclassified Misdemeanor of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law, as well as additional Traffic Tickets for stopping on highway and failure to use headlights both violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Oreggio was additionally charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, due to having a 16-year-old passenger in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop, a Misdemeanor of the NYS Penal Law.
Oreggio was subsequently released on appearance tickets and directed to appear at the Village of Walton Court at a later date to answer the charges.
