COBLESKILL — The SUNY Cobleskill men’s lacrosse team broke into the win column on Saturday afternoon posting an 18-10 non-conference victory over the host Cyclones of Centenary University in Hackettstown, N.J. to move to 1-2 overall on the season. Senior attackman Sean D’Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School, scored five goals and passed out an assist in the win to become the Fighting Tigers all-time leading scorer at the NCAA level of competition.
The Fighting Tiger baseball team split a pair of non-conference contests during the week losing on the road to the host Pioneers of William Patterson University on Monday in Wayne, N.J. by a 14-2 margin before opening the 2024 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Sunday in Auburndale, Fla. 12-8 to move to 3-8 overall on the year. Senior outfielder Samuel Gutierrez, Queens, N.Y., Martin Van Buren High School/Queensborough Community College, batted .571 for the week with three walks, two doubles, three runs scored and four RBI.
Fighting Tiger senior women’s basketball team member Logan Thayne, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Hoosick Falls High School, was named to the D3HOOPS.COM All-Region I Second Team for the 2023-24 season. Thayne becomes the first Fighting Tiger player to earn all-regional honors from D3HOOPS.COM after averaging 16.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.2 blocked shots, 1.3 assists and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 55.6% from the field including 32.3% from three-point range and 79.4% from the free throw line to earn First Team All-North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and NAC Player-of-the-Year honors and lead Cobleskill to the NAC Western Division Championship with a 25-2 overall record including a 13-0 mark versus league opponents.
The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced this week that Fighting Tiger assistant men’s and women’s golf coach Brock Ricketts will take over as the interim head golf coach of the program this spring. Ricketts was a four-year performer for the Fighting Tigers on the links and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in financial services from the college in 2023.
