Tonight the M2 Metals LLC. crate late models will be at Utica-Rome Speedway, with all weekly divisions. There is a pre-race meet & greet scheduled for the pro stock division. Gates open at 5:00 pm., with racing at 7:30 pm.on Friday,
Saturday the Old Stone Fort in Schoharie in conjunction with the Schoharie County Historical Society will present Cars & Coffee from 9:00 am. until 12:00 pm. at the Old Stone Fort Museum in Schoharie.
Sunday, Glen Ridge Motorsports Park will host the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series presented by Yurkewecz Auto Crushers.
Sunday will bring the 4th. annual running of the Sunflower 50-Race for a Cause. The Northeast Mod Predators Karts hold this event to raise funds for various charities and in 2024 it will be the Veterans and Community Housing Coalition. Racing will take place at 176 Midline Road, Broadalbin 12025. For fans, Please do not arrive before 3:30 pm. to allow for the loading of the karts into the pits. Gates open at 3:30 pm. Opening ceremonies will start at 5:30 pm. and racing at 6:00 pm. Fan admission is a five dollar donation.
Next Saturday August 31, Lebanon Valley Speedway will host their annual Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A. for the modifieds. The 100-lap Super DIRtcar Series feature will pay $15,500 to win. Sportsman, pro stocks, and limited sportsman are also on the program.
With his second place finish last week at Land Of Legends Raceway and the win at Brewerton Speedway last week Alex Yankowski was crowned the champion of the SummerFAST Series for the Super DIRTcar Series modifieds division.
As I try to cover a wide range of Motorsports it is sad that I have to mention that legendary late model driver Scott Bloomquist was killed last week while flying his antique airplane near his home in Mooresburg, Tennessee.
Results from last week at Albany-Saratoga Speedway In the NAPA DIRTcar modified division Demetrios Drellos went on to win the 35-lap feature over Jessey Mueller and Peter Britten. Rob Yetman won the 25-lap Saratoga Masonry Supply DIRTcar pro stock division feature over Beau Ballard and Pete Stefanski. Connor Crane would take his first Doug Wholey's Ideal Excavating DIRTcar crate 602 sportsman division 25-lap feature ahead of Tim Hartman Jr. and Mike Coffey Jr. The Haun Welding limited sportsman division 20-lap feature was won by Nick Brundige followed by Matthew Gebo and Steve Burch. The Cornell's Auto Parts street stock feature with bonus money from Ghent Wood Products paid out $1,100 to winner Jimmy Duncan, with Chris Stalker and P.J. Cram Jr. completing the top three. In the Greg’s Towing 4 cylinder division feature Josh Rheome was the dual cam division winner and Ben Ladd won for the single cam division.
Saturday would find Utica-Rome Speedway with a full program as they held the annual Cole Cup for the Empire Super Sprints 360 winged sprint cars and the final races for the Thunder on the Thruway Series between U-R and Fonda.
In the 3 Bastards Brewing modified division 30-lap feature Matt Sheppard claimed the win over Stewart Friesen and Jack Lehner. Mike Maresca was crowned the F.X. Caprara Car Companies-Thunder on the Thruway Series Champion.
The 25-lap Empire Super Sprint Cole Cup feature for the 360 winged sprint cars seemed like a marathon as there were numerous yellow flags and at least two red flags. Billy VanInwegen would hang on to earn the $5,000 check in the biggest sprint car victory of his career. Davie
Franek took second and Jordan Poirier third.
The Taylor’s Trailers crate 602 sportsman division 25-lap feature was won by Payton Talbot as he would make a last lap pass on Tanner Warner to claim the win. Jeremy Slozek finished third. Talbot was crowned the Thunder on the Thruway Champion for the sportsman division.
The Ted’s Body Shop/Next Generation GraphiX pro stock division 20-lap feature was won by Andy Graves followed by Cousin Luke Horning, and Bret Belden. Kenny Gates was able to claim the Thunder on the Thruway Series title.
Former modified driver Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y. was competing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series in the 32nd. annual Topless 100 at the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas on Saturday. McCreadie would win his second career Topless 100 and the
$50,000 winner's share of the purse.
With early forecasts calling for rain on Sunday. Glen Ridge Motorsports Park made the decision on Saturday evening to cancel their program.
In an interesting twist. Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vermont held their C.J. Richards crate 602 sportsman modified 67-lap feature.
The first driver to cross the finish line was Canadian pilot Cedric Gauvreau. However, there were questions in regard to the legality of the engine in the Gauvreau race car. Promotor Mike Bruno made the decision to do a complete technical inspection of the engine. Numerous illegal infractions were found during the inspection. Zach Sobotka was declared the race winner and will receive the $5,000 winner's check and the guaranteed starting spot in the annual Vermont 200 later this year.
Tuesday night the Super DIRTcar Series big block modifieds were in western New York for the Ron Martin-Summer Nationals at the Ransomville Speedway. Mat Williamson scored the win in the 75-lap feature. Matt Sheppard finished second followed by Stewart Friesen and Jack Lehner.
