The Piggly Wigglies at Landis Sept 17th

The Piggly Wigglies are a swing band from Albany, NY, that are dedicated to jazz and dance music from the 1920s-1940s. Bryan Brundige and His Piggly Wigglies always uplift their audience whilst getting their feets movin' and groovin!

Please refrain from tossing anything into the pond.

Franklin Farmer's Market Welcomes Starr Sept 19th

The Franklin Farmers’ Market is pleased to welcome Jason Starr to the Music at the Market stage on Sunday, September 19th, 2021, 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Jason Starr is a guitar player and singer who has been performing in the area since he arrived in Franklin with his wife and daughter in 2010. He has played venues such as the B-Side Ballroom, The Walton Theatre, Castle on the Delaware, The Oneonta, Otego, Cooperstown, and Franklin Farmers’ Markets, and the Franklin Holiday Market. Playing solo and with bands of varying lineups, he plays in the genres of Bluegrass, Blues, Americana, The Great American Songbook, Motown... all of which he puts under the big genre umbrella of Folk Music. He is a Teaching Artist with the Creating Rural Opportunities Partnership (CROP) program in local schools. The performance is FREE to attend. Tables and chairs are available, and guests are welcome to bring their own seats as well.
The Market is open 10am to 2pm in the Village of Franklin on Institute Street and includes vendors from Franklin and surrounding towns. Selling breads & rolls, beef, chicken & eggs, doggy treats, herbs, honey, jams & jellies, jewelry, maple candies and syrup, mushrooms, plant seedlings, pork & lamb, preserves, a variety of produce, relishes, Scandinavian baked goods, sunflower oil, fresh & smoked trout, and home décor.

Tague Announces Rensselaerville Library Grant
Assemblyman Chris Tague announced over $15,000 in grant
funding that has been awarded to two different library projects within the 102nd Assembly
District through the New York State Department of Education and the New York State Library.
The RCS Community Library in Ravena will be receiving $7,057 to update its HVAC system to
improve indoor air quality.
The Rensselaerville Library will be given $9,734 to add air
conditioning to the Annex portion of their building by installing ductless mini-split units.
“Our libraries have become more important than ever, especially as our personal and
professional lives become further reliant on technology and the internet,” said Tague. “I am
proud to announce this critical funding for these libraries so that they can continue to offer
services and events to the public that are educational and bring us closer together within our
communities.”
CWC Approves Septic System Repairs and Replacements and Future Stormwater Projects
On September 7, the Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) Board of Directors approved funding for several projects in the Septic and Stormwater Programs.
21 homeowners and businesses in 15 towns in Delaware, Greene, Schoharie, and Ulster Counties were awarded reimbursement grants for replacement septic systems. Year to date, CWC has funded over 140 septic repairs and replacements throughout the Watershed.
Two property owners were approved for reimbursement funding from the CWC Future Stormwater Program for costs to comply with stormwater requirements of the NYC Watershed Regulations. A property owner in the Town of Woodstock, Ulster County was approved funding for design costs of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). Stormwater controls included the installation of three rain gardens, vegetated swales, plunge pools, inlet and outlet drainage repairs and a stormwater pond. New property owners were awarded funding for post construction stormwater control measures solely required by NYCDEP in the Town of Kortright, Delaware County as well.
Homeowners in the Town of Hunter, Greene County and Bovina, Delaware County were approved for Stormwater reimbursement grants from the MOA 145 Program. Both homeowners were required to implement Individual Residential Stormwater Plans (IRSP) per the NYCDEP Watershed Rules and Regulations. Among the components funded by CWC were rain gardens and drainage swales.

Delgado Announces Statement Commemorating September 11th
Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) released the following statement on the twentieth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania:
“Twenty years ago today, our nation, our way of life, and our freedom was attacked. In a single day, we lost almost 3,000 Americans in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. For two decades, this day has marked loss and pain. But it also reminds us what service, strength, resiliency, and unity really mean.
Twenty years ago, we watched first responders run into fire to save lives. We witnessed passengers on a plane sacrifice themselves in order to stop another attack. In the following weeks and months, we saw our sons and daughters sign up to serve our country, to protect our freedoms and to bring justice to those who attacked our homeland.
We find ourselves today, on the 20th anniversary, a nation in pain. From the coronavirus to devastating floods, to losing 13 brave service members in Afghanistan, to political divisiveness teetering on violence, many of us are struggling. We are collectively overwhelmed with grief. We are fighting to find a purpose in this pain.
And we can win this fight with love.
On this horrific day, 20 years ago, love and duty drove firefighters into the twin towers. Love of country drove our service members and veterans to enlist. Love was the last thing on the minds of those who perished.
Amidst this suffering, this pain -- we must love one another, give love to one another, and we must never forget. We cannot forget the first responders who spent painstaking months sifting through the rubble. We cannot forget our service members who gave their lives to protect our country and our way of life. We cannot forget those who perished in the attacks.

SUNY COBLESKILL VOLLEYBALL DROPS TWO CONTESTS AT MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE TRIANGULAR MATCH
The SUNY Cobleskill women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at a triangular match hosted by the Lyons of Mount Holyoke College on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Tigers opened the event with a 3-1 loss Framingham State by set scores of 19-25, 19-25, 25-19 and 23-25 before losing a 3-0 decision to the host Lyons of Mount Holyoke by set scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-19. With the blank the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-7 overall on the year to date.
Sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Larson, Winterset, Iowa, Winterset High School, turned in a stellar effort for the Orange & Black on the day going for 16 kills, 21 digs and a pair of service aces versus Framingham State then posting a 13 kill, 14 dig three service ace effort versus host Mount Holyoke. Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Victoria O’Bar, Middlebury, Conn, Nonnewaug High School, also turned in a strong effort for the visitors with 27 digs, two kills and an ace in the opener then going for 10 digs and two service aces in the finale.
Cobleskill will return to action on Tuesday September 14 when they host the Gators of Russell Sage College in non-conference action beginning at 7:00 p.m.
SUNY COBLESKILL MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO NEW JERSEY CITY COLLEGE 3-1 AT BRYAN KARL TOURNAMENT
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s soccer team battled transportation difficulties, the team’s bus had a breakdown, on route to a 3-1 loss to the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon in the opening round of the 2021 Bryan Karl Tournament hosted by Alfred University. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers drop to 0-2 overall on the season to date while the Gothic Knights improve to 5-0 on the year.
The lone Fighting Tiger goal came in the 60th minute of play when junior forward Tanner Reisman, Youngstown, N.Y., Lewiston-Porter High School, found the back of the net with assists credited to freshman defender Charles Agle, Eden, N.Y., Eden High School, and sophomore forward Cater Ciavardoni, Latham, N.Y., Shaker High School, which tied the contest at that time.
In the net, junior goalie John Gergen, Greenville, N.Y., Greenville High School, made 13 saves on the afternoon for Cobleskill.

Fighting Tigers Post Impressive Total at Warde Invitational
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s cross country team put on an impressive display of pack running on Saturday as the Fighting Tigers posted a team total of 16 points to out-pace a field of 12 teams at the 2021 Steven A. Warde Invitational hosted by the Fighting Tigers on their home course on Saturday afternoon. The team’s victory was their second invitational victory of the year to date.
The Fighting Tigers were once again led by first-year performer Eamonn Sullivan, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Fordham Preparatory School, who bettered the 56-runner field by completing the 8000-meter loop in a course record time of 26:09.83. Sullivan was followed by his roommate sophomore Nick Logan, Queensbury, N.Y., Queensbury High School, who placed second overall in a time of 26:33.49 and by senior Dillon VanDemortel, Newark, N.Y., Newark High School, who placed third with a time of 26:44.64.
The team’s scoring was rounded out by first-year runner Shane Viscosi, Fultonville, N.Y., Fonda-Fultonville High School, in fourth place in a time of 27:17.37 and senior Jared Craw, Colonie, N.Y., Colonie High School/Hudson Valley Community College, who placed sixth with a time of 27:52.71. Junior Tucker Skowyra, Hardwick, Mass., Quabbin Regional High School, was also a factor in the meet for the Orange & Black finishing in 10th place in a time of 29:41.89.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday September 18 when they travel to Marcy, N.Y. to compete in the 2021 Wildcat Invitational hosted by the SUNY Polytechnic Institute at their campus cross country course beginning at 10:00 a.m.
FIGHTING TIGER MEN’S SOCCER SHUTOUT IN CONSOLATION GAME OF BRYAN KARL TOURNAMENT BY ALFRED UNIVERSITY 8-0
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s soccer team closed out their weekend excursion to Alfred University on Sunday falling to the host Pioneers in the consolation game of the 2021 Bryan Karl Tournament by an 8-0 margin. With the loss the Fighting Tigers drop to 0-3 on the year-to-date while the host Saxons move to 1-2-2 on the year.
Once again, the Fighting Tigers fell behind at the half trailing the home team 2-0 before the home standing Saxons used a home turf advantage to find the back of the net six times in the second half to post the victory as Cobleskill was outshot 35-8 in the contest.
The Orange & Black will return to action on Saturday September 18 when they open North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with a home contest versus the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton with kick-off set for 2:30 p.m. followed by a Sunday home non-conference match versus the Privateers of SUNY Maritime beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The SUNY Cobleskill men’s cross country team ran to their second consecutive invitational championship on Saturday, winning their own Steven A. Warde Invitational with a team score of 16 points. Fighting Tiger first year runner Eamonn Sullivan, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Fordham Preparatory School, also won his second consecutive invitational of the year to date covering the 8000-meter loop in a course record time of 26:09.83 to better the 56-runner field.
Fighting Tiger senior golfer Ethan Straub, Oswego, N.Y., Oswego High School/Jefferson Community College, posted his first career invitational victory on Saturday firing a round of three-over-par 75 to better a 22-player field at the 2021 Russell Sage Gator Fall Invitational hosted by Russell Sage College at the 7000-yard/par 72 Colonie Golf & Country Club in Voorheesville, N.Y. Led by Straub, Cobleskill posted a team total of 64-over par 352 to place third overall in the field of four teams.
Competing as an individual at the 2021 Russell Sage Gator Fall Invitational hosted by Russell Sage College at the 6310-yard/par 72 Colonie Golf & Country Club in Voorheesville, N.Y. on Saturday. Fighting Tiger junior Olivia Lisi, Marathon, N.Y., Marathon High School, captured the tournament’s individual title firing a round of 19-over-par 91 to record her first tournament victory of the season.
First year runner Jenna Swyers, Peru, N.Y., Peru High School, was the Fighting Tiger women’s cross country team’s top finisher at the 2021 Steven A. Warde Invitational hosted by Cobleskill on Saturday. Swyers completed the 6000-meter course in a time of 29:18.0 to place 10th overall in a field of 41 runners.
The Fighting Tiger men’s soccer team opened the 2021 season during the week by losing three contests to open the campaign at 0-3 overall On Wednesday Cobleskill fell at home by a 3-1 score to the visiting Brewers of Vassar College before traveling to Alfred, N.Y. over the weekend to for Alfred University’s Bryan Karl Tournament. The team dropped their tournament opener 3-1 to the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City on Saturday afternoon then losing to the host Saxons of Alfred University on Sunday morning by a 0-8 margin. Junior forward Tanner Reisman, Youngstown, N.Y., Lewston-Porter High School, scored both Orange & Black’s goals during the week.
The women’s volleyball lost three matches during the week losing at Castleton University to the Spartans 3-1 by set scores of: 25-23, 25-20, 17-25 and 25-20. Over the weekend the Fighting Tigers traveled to South Hadley, Mass to compete in a triangular match hosted by the Lyons of Mount Holyoke College. Cobleskill opened the even by losing to the Rams of Framingham State University 3-1 by set scores of 25-19,25-15, 19-25 and 25-23 followed by a 3-0 loss to the host Lyons by scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-19 to fall to 0-7 overall on the season. Sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Larson, Winterset, Iowa, Winterset High School, averaged 4.5 kills and 4.4 digs per set over the week for Cobleskill in 10 sets played.

We're thrilled to present THE MOTHERHOOD PROJECT, created by Christy Escobar with collaborators Marinda Anderson, Rosa Gilmore, Keren Lugo, Kedren Spencer, and Sarah Todes, a reading of a new play in development that explores the decision to become or not become a Mother in these apocalyptic times.
We will also be presenting visual art in the upstairs gallery by Melike Baskoylu, a Turkish-born interdisciplinary sculptor and woodworker based in Brooklyn, NY. Their practice pursues a marriage between Eastern and Western influences in form-driven narratives and pattern-makings, bridging the divide between traditional and emerging technology. Inspired by Ottoman-Safavid Era miniature paintings and late 20-21st century sculptural movements of US/Europe, they reinterpret the visual and spacial relationships central to fine woodworking and painting.

Craft Fair at Cullen Pumpkin Farm
The Cullen Pumpkin Farm, located at 587 Cullen Road, Richfield Springs, is hosting a Craft Fair to be held on Saturday, September 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Craft Fair is coordinated by the Women’s Guild of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs and benefits its fundraising efforts.
Due to the cancellation for two years of the Church’s long standing Friendship Craft Festival, held in June of each year in the village's Spring Park, the Shypski family reached out to the Guild and offered them this opportunity
The Cullen Pumpkin Farm, a long-time family-owned business, is a popular fall destination attracting visitors young and not so young from a wide area. Their season opened on Saturday, September 11.
The Food Booth will be provided by Richfield Youth Sports. They provide an opportunity for youth ages Pre-K through 6th grades in Richfield Springs and surrounding communities to play a variety of sports encouraging them to experience teamwork and goal setting while enhancing self-esteem and a healthy lifestyle through physical activity all while having fun.

Statement: Tague Opposes Health Worker Vaccine Mandate
Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I-Schoharie) has joined his Assembly Republican colleagues in a letter to Gov. Hochul and Health Commissioner Howard Zucker demanding that they rescind the decision to mandate that healthcare workers get vaccinated by September 27. In the letter they argue that with 20-25% of healthcare workers still unvaccinated, a vaccination mandate will cause a shortage of staff within hospitals and health centers if workers who do not wish to be vaccinated are fired or forced to resign. Rather than forcing a mandate on hospital workers, Tague believes a comprehensive solution involving improving access to PPE and weekly testing for the unvaccinated would be better for public health, while preserving the ability of healthcare workers to make decisions about their wellness.
Concerns were also raised regarding the implementation of such a mandate for workers who do not come into close proximity with patients such as coders and transcriptionists, as well as for individuals working in hospitals who have a legitimate medical exemption precluding them from receiving the vaccine.
“If we think things have gotten bad with the rise of the delta variant, we’re really in for it if the governor allows us to lose nearly a quarter of our healthcare workers overnight,” said Tague. “I’ve been vaccinated and encourage anyone to get it, but forcing people to take a vaccine they don’t want for any reason, whether it be personal or religious, is not the way to improve vaccination rates, and will only make people more hesitant to trust it. We can preserve the safety of patients with frequent testing of unvaccinated people and improved access to high-quality PPE, such as N95 masks, but implementing a mandate that will drastically reduce our pool of healthcare workers will only hurt patients and our ability to save their lives.”

Highlights of the Past Month
Extraordinary Legislative Session
Governor Hochul has promised that transparency will be the hallmark of her administration. Hochul called the legislature into a special session to deal with evictions and added legislation regarding the Open Meetings Law. Legislators and the public were not provided copies of either bill until the special session was under way. We objected to the process used and the fact that the legislation passed which allows for remote meetings by public bodies was lacking several items such as:
- Allowing for hybrid meetings, a combination of in person and remote;
- Mandating that public comments be taken in person and remotely during meetings;
- Mandating that meeting recordings be posted online afterwards;
Our press release on this issue received coverage across the state.
Buffalo Bills Stadium Transparency
The Pegula's as billionaire owners of the Buffalo Bills have conducted a study to determine the cost of building a new stadium. The study has been shared with government officials but has not been released to the public. As taxpayers are being asked to contribute several hundred million dollars towards the cost of a new stadium, the public should be able to see the Pegula study. Gov. Hochul and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz are not advocating for releasing the study, which they should. We sent an email to every member of the Erie County Legislature who will vote on a financing agreement asking them if they support releasing the study and if they support a process where the public can be heard prior to any vote. Not one legislator has responded in support of releasing the study and for engaging the public! It should not be hard to take a stand for transparency but apparently it is.

Rep. Delgado to Hold NY-19 Veteran Forum
On Wednesday, September 8 at 11:30 AM, Rep. Antonio Delgado (NY-19) will hold a NY-19 Veteran Forum in Saugerties to give our brave veterans a space to lean on each other during these challenging times and share resources for support. The Congressman will be joined by local veterans and public officials who have served. The event will be livestreamed on Rep. Delgado’s Facebook page.

Insurance is billed for those with insurance. Colorectal cancer screening kits are also available for men and women 50 and over.
