SUNY COBLESKILL MEN’S LACROSSE DEFEAT CENTENARY UNIVERSITY 21-4 IN NON-LEAGUE ACTION


Hackettstown, N.J.: The SUNY Cobleskill men’s lacrosse team stepped out of conference play on Saturday posting an impressive 21-4 win over the host Centenary University at the Cyclones J.E. Reeves Jr. Field. With the with victory the Fighting Tigers move to 5-2 overall on the season while the Cyclones drop to 0-11 on the year to date. 

The Fighting Tigers dominated the action by jumping out to a 17-0 advantage to secure the victory as Cobleskill outshot their hosts by a 63-37 on the afternoon. 

Offensively Cobleskill showed great balance with junior midfielder Sean D’Amaro, Northport, N.Y., Northport High School, scoring four goals and passing out four assists, senior midfielder Jake Giess, Victor, N.Y., Victor High School/Finger Lakes Community College, scoring four goals to go with one assist, senior midfielder William Bockhaus, Southampton, N.Y., Southampton High School, scoring three goals and passing out three assists and sophomore midfielder Albert Sippio, Syracuse, N.Y., Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central, tallying three times. 

The visitors also received offensive contributions from senior attackman Kerry Blackwood, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School/Hudson Valley Community College, and junior attackman Gregory Neumann, Accord, N.Y., Rondout Valley High School, who each had two goals and an assist on the day.  

Sophomore goalie John Williams, Smyrna, Del., Smyrna High School, posted the win by making 14 saves and causing a turnover to hold the Cyclone offense in check throughout the contest.    

The Orange & Black return to action on Wednesday April 12 when they travel to Aurora, N.Y. for a non-league meeting with The Express of Wells College with face-off at 5:00 p.m.
