Fighting Tiger Weekly Recap

The SUNY Cobleskill men’s cross country team posted a team score of 88 points to out distance and claim victory over a 34-team field at the 2017 Mount Saint Mary’s College Invitational hosted by the Blue Knights at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y.on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers were led by senior Anthony Bouchard, Wantagh, N.Y. Wantagh High School, who placed eighth overall in a field of 220 runners by covering the soggy 8000-meter course in a time of 28:07 seconds.
The Fighting Tiger men’s golf team closed the 2017 portion of their schedule on a pair of high notes this week taking second place in a six-team field with a score of 39-over par 327 at the 2017 Elmira College Fall Invitational on Tuesday at the par 72/6747 yard Elmira Country Club then taking the team title at the 2017 Paul Smith’s College Invitational on Saturday at the par 72.6377 yard Saranac Inn Golf & Country Club with a season best score of 23-over par 311 to earn the top spot in a four-team field. Junior Cody Latimer, Mayville, N.Y., Chautauqua Lake High School/Jamestown Community College, was the team’s top finisher tying for third place at Elmira with a round of seven-over par 79 before winning at Paul Smith’s with a team individual season best effort of two-under par 70.
Junior Quinn Porter, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, led the Fighting Tiger women’s cross country team to a score of 197 points and a sixth place finish in a field of 31 teams at the 2017 Mount Saint Mary’s College Invitational hosted by the Blue Knights at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y. on Saturday. Porter placed sixth overall in the field of 199 runners by covering the soggy 6000-meter loop in a time of 25:26 for Cobleskill.
Competing as an individual Fighting Tiger senior women’s golfer Tracy Anderson, Johnsonville, N.Y., Hoosic Valley High School, closed out the fall season with a pair of solid efforts. On Tuesday Anderson fired a round of 25-over par 97 to finish in fourth place at the 2017 Elmira College Invitational hosted by Elmira at the par 72/6692 yard Elmira Country Club then on Saturday the Johnsonville, N.Y. native came back to finish third overall at the 2017 Paul Smith's College Invitational hosted by the Bobcats at the par 72/6377 yard Saranac Inn Golf & Country Club with a round of 23-over-par 95.
The women’s volleyball team took one-of-three matches during the week coming back to defeat the Raptors of Bard College at home on Wednesday night 3-2 by scores of 19-25, 25-12, 17-25, 25-23 and 15-10 then losing on the road on Saturday in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action at Penn College to the host Wildcats 3-1 by scores of 23-25, 23-25, 25-14 and 22-25 and in non-league play to Gwynedd Mercy College 3-1 by scores of 17-25, 14-25, 25-23 and 19-25 to move to5-9 overall including a 0-4 mark in NEAC contests. Fighting Tiger junior setter McKenzie Holbert, Sauquoit, N.Y., New Hartford High School/Herkimer Community College, averaged: 2:46 assists, 2.31 digs, 0,85 kills and 0.92 aces in 13 sets played during the week.
The men’s soccer team took to the road on Wednesday to drop a NEAC contest to the host Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute by a 2-0 margin in Marcy, N.Y.  The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 2-7 overall including a 0-2 record in league play.
The women’s soccer team lost twice during the week falling on the road Wednesdayevening to NEAC rival SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday evening 12-0 then falling to Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences 8-0 at home on Saturday. With the losses the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-8 overall including a 0-2 record in conference action.
