The Workforce Investment Office (WIO) at Columbia-Greene Community College recently received a $10,000 grant from the Hudson River Bank and Trust (HRBT) Foundation. These funds will be used to purchase a virtual recruitment and job fair platform that will enable the WIO to host virtual job fairs, recruitment events, and webinars. This valuable resource not only will benefit the business community but also C-GCC students seeking jobs after graduation.
“Clearly during this past year, seeking a job anywhere has been challenging. The Foundation members fully recognize that the virtual recruitment and job fair platform will assist the community with a more streamlined approach and simplify the job-hunting process,” said Carl Florio, President of the HRBT Foundation.
Christopher Nardone, Director of the Columbia-Greene Workforce Investment Office, added, “With high unemployment rates and businesses in need of workers, bridging the gap between technology and human interaction has never been more important. Throughout Columbia and Greene counties, businesses need employees while dislocated workers struggle to rebuild. Traditional methods of recruiting and hiring are no longer sufficient. The funding support received from the HRBT Foundation to purchase this training platform will conveniently connect employers and job seekers, thereby strengthening our economy and our communities.”
The Columbia-Greene Workforce Office at Columbia-Greene Community College provides a wide range of free services to youth, businesses, and job seekers. For more information, visit columbiagreeneworks.org or call 518.828.4181.
