SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Weekly Recap

SUNY COBLESKILL FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 9/6/21 
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s cross-country team opened their 2021 season in impressive fashion on Saturday, posting a team score of 24 points to better a field of nine teams at the 2021 SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational hosted by the Wildcats on their campus course in Marcy,N.Y. Fighting Tiger first-year performer Eamonn Sullivan, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Fordham Prep., captured the race's individual title bettering the 65-runner field by covering the 6000-meter course in an impressive time of 19:02 for his first career intercollegiate victory. 
The Fighting Tiger men’s golf team opened their season on Saturday afternoon at their own 2021 SUNY Cobleskill Fall Invitational at the par 70/6163-yard Cobleskill Golf & Country Club. Cobleskill posted a score of 93 over-par 373 to place third overall in a field of three teams at the event.  The Orange & Black were led by senior Ethan Straub, Oswego, N.Y., Oswego High School, who was the team’s top placer at the event firing a round of four over-par 74 to place second overall in the 22-player field.  
First-year women’s cross-country runner Jenna Swyers, Peru, N.Y., Peru High School, turned in an impressive opening effort at the 2021 SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational hosted by the Wildcats on their campus course in Marcy, N.Y. Swyers completed the 4000-meter course in a time of 20:13.5 to place 25th overall in a field of 57 runners to lead the Fighting Tigers. 
The women’s golf team opened their season on Saturday by hosting their 2021 SUNY Cobleskill Fall Invitational at their home course the par 72 5114-yard Cobleskill Golf & Country Club. The tournament was an individual stroke play event with no team scoring. The Fighting Tigers were led by junior Olivia Lisi, Marathon, N.Y., Marathon High School, who placed third overall with a score of 37 over-par 107 in the afternoon.  
The Fighting Tiger women’s volleyball team suffered through a rough opening week of the season as the Orange & Black dropped four contests during that span to open the campaign at 0-4. On Wednesday, Cobleskill dropped their home opener to Hartwick College 3-0 by set scores of: 25-21, 25-17 and 25-17. Then over the weekend the Orange & Black were swept at the Elms College Blazer Invitational in Chicopee, Mass., losing their opener to Worcester Polytechnic Institute 3-0 by scores by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-22 prior to losing to host Elms College 3-0 by tallies of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19 then closing out the event with a 3-2 loss to Colby-Sawyer College by set scores of 25-14, 19-25, 25-22, 18-25 and 11-15.
