The SUNY Cobleskill men’s golf team has been ranked sixth overall among a field of nine teams in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Pre-Championship Coaches Poll. The tournament will be held this weekend at SUNY Delhi’s par 72/6459-yard The College Golf Course in Delhi, N.Y. on Saturday October 9 and Sunday October 10 beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The team that wins the tournament championship will receive an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament to be hosted by at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida by Oglethorpe University of Atlanta, Georgia and the Central Florida Sports Commission.
According to Cobleskill first-year head coach Megan Bowman the program is anxious for the chance to contend at the conference championship tournament and what this means to the Fighting Tigers as a program.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to compete at the conference championship tournament. After two years of competing as individuals we are finally able to contend as a full-fledged team with senior leadership in the form of Brock Ricketts and Ethan Straub. I think we are headed in the right direction as a program and ready to showcase that this weekend.”
The Fighting Tigers will be led by senior Ethan Straub, Oswego, N.Y., Oswego High School/Jefferson Community College, who in his first year of team membership has earned NAC Golfer-of-the-Week honors once this season and has been named the NAC Rookie-of-the-Week on two separate occasions and by senior Brock Ricketts, Cherry Creek, N.Y., Pine Valley High School, a four-year team member who has played in four conference championship tournaments during his college career.
