Spring Events at Huyck Preserve

RENSSELAERVILLE-Now that spring has sprung, it is time to go to the Huyck Preserve in Rensselaerville for spring events.
The Eldridge Research Center is located at 284 Pond Hill Road. Among the events this spring are:
* Celebrate Earth Day Learning about Wildlife with Kelly Martin. She will show her current animals and will lead an early spring hike on Saturday, April 23 from 1-3pm.
* April is Citizen Science Month with an event on the Phenology Trail on Saturday, April 30 from 10am to noon at the Visitors' Center at 5052 Delaware Turnpike.
You can join Stewardship Coordinator Garrett Chisholm to learn about their phenology program and how you can contribute valuable data by becoming a citizen scientist.
Registration is required and the event is capped at 18 people. This event is free to all. The trails may be muddy and waterproof is recommended. Inclement weather will cancel this event.
* Spring Wildflower Hike. Saturday, May 14, 10am. at the Research Center. You can follow Chris Schiralli, local wildflower expert, on a gentle hike around the Preserve in search of spring blooms. Registration is required and the event is capped at 18 people. The suggested conation is $5. and Preserve members and children under 12 are free. The trails may be muddy and waterproof footwear is recommended. Inclement weather will cancel this event.
* Nature Drawing Workshop. Saturday, May 21 form 10am to noon at the Research Center.


Come sketch outside with artist and Membership and Outreach Coordinator Florence. Learn the basics of how to approach drawing from nature. They will explore sketching landscapes and natural objects with colored pencils. Drawing materials (paper, pencils, and clipboards) will be provided, but feel free to bring along your own sketchbooks or drawing tools if you have a preferred medium All ages and skill levels welcome. 
* National Trail Day, Saturday, June 4, 10am to noon. 

Meet at the Ordway House Driveway at 182 Pond Hill Road.

Be a part of helping improve trails at the Preserve. This event will focus on work at Ordway Trail.​
