Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of a Walton man on Felony Assault charges.
On April 28th 2022, members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received a report that an assault occurred in the Delaware County Correctional Facility involving two inmates. Preliminary investigation revealed that inmate Martin W. Planty Jr, of Walton New York, assaulted another inmate by striking the other inmate with a number of closed fist punches, causing the other inmate to sustain contusions to the face and chest as a result of this assault.
On May 3rd 2022, members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division arrested Planty and charged him with one count of Assault 2nd degree, a class D Felony. Planty was arraigned at the Town of Delhi Court, and released on his own recognizance on the current charge, to remain incarcerated at DCCF on the unrelated charges he was originally incarcerated for.
