COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Two SUNY Cobleskill seniors, Alexandra Delvecchio and Anna Post, have been honored with 2022 Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence (CASE) as part of SUNY’s annual student recognition showcase. CASE is the highest honor awarded to SUNY students who have best demonstrated academic excellence and leadership.

Delvecchio, an Animal Science major who will be attending pre-veterinary school following graduation, has proven to be an innovative peer leader through her roles as Honors ambassador, campus engagement leader, resident assistant, and president of the Pre-Veterinary Club. She has worked with classmates on research projects, class learning aids, and project planning. This year, she worked tirelessly with another Honors student to construct a full-sized horse skeleton to be used as a teaching tool in Applied Animal Anatomy & Physiology and other courses to the benefit of students for years to come.

Delvecchio has been recognized before for her preeminence, receiving an Excellence in Student Leadership Awards in 2021 and 2022. She has also served as Vice President for the College’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Anna Post, an Agricultural Business Management major, has been named to the Dean’s List each semester of her three years at SUNY Cobleskill, while balancing a full schedule of extracurricular and athletic pursuits. In recognition of her academic excellence, Anna was awarded an American FFA Degree, the organization’s highest degree to those who demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement. She has been awarded by the College for Emerging Student Leadership and Excellence in Student Leadership and has been invited to join Delta Alpha Phi International Honor Society.

Post has also excelled on the field and the court, being named captain of both the women’s basketball and women’s soccer teams. She received North Atlantic Conference “Rookie of the Year” honors her first year as a college athlete, NAC Player of the Week during her junior campaign, and a spot on the NAC All-Academic Team for her competitiveness in the classroom. Alongside these commitments, Anna performs roles for the Student Government Association, Agricultural Business Club, Post-Secondary Agricultural Students Club, and the Dairy Cattle Club.

“The individual accomplishments of Alexandra and Anna in their time at SUNY Cobleskill are breathtaking in their scope, made even more so in the knowledge that they, along with their 2022 classmates, persevered through the disruption of a global pandemic. It’s this perseverance that makes one a truly successful leader,” said SUNY Cobleskill President Dr. Marion Terenzio. “In their demonstration of the well-rounded academic and professional qualities of which our students are capable, Alexandra and Anna reaffirm the readiness of this generation of students in meeting the challenges facing our society and our natural world.”

“Now more than ever, it is time to celebrate the accomplishments of our students who have helped one another get through this global pandemic and focus on getting the most out of their college education, and this year’s CASE winners are at the top of the class,” said SUNY Interim Chancellor Deborah F. Stanley. “It is my great honor to celebrate the fortitude, leadership, and achievements of this year’s winners, and I applaud their hard work and desire to do more for their campuses and fellow students. I, for one, can’t wait to see what they do next.”

Systemwide, 180 SUNY students from 61 campuses were honored with 2022 Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence.
