Public Is Invited to the Event Slated for Monday, March 27, from   

4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 455 Main Street, Catskill  

 

Catskill, NY (March 20, 2023) The Catskill Youth Clubhouse, an OASAS funded program of MHA of Columbia-Greene (MHACG), cordially invites the public from both Greene and Columbia counties, to attend a Harm Reduction Heroes (HRH) Youth Leadership event at the Youth and Recovery Center, 455 Main Street, Catskill. 

 

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend the event and enjoy free refreshments and pizza. Several activities are planned: HRH youth presentations accompanied by photography and art exhibits, health and wellness information, and more. The goal of HRH Youth Leadership Team is to provide all people, especially youth, extensive drug education, harm reduction techniques, full Narcan® training including a free kit upon completion, and free fentanyl test strips.    


“The Clubhouses in both Hudson and Catskill welcome all youth 12-17 and young adults 18+ who are in recovery, who are seeking recovery, who have been impacted by substance use disorder (SUD) or are allies. Through peer-driven activities, health, wellness, and long-term recovery are promoted and realized,” said Program Director Kai Hillmann.

The Clubhouses empower youth in Columbia and Greene Counties to work collectively to achieve personal and shared goals related to recovery and wellness. Through providing a safe, non-judgmental, reliable, thriving environment for members to participate, experience joy, achieve, and succeed we will see individuals achieve self-actualization, self-sufficiency, and recovery. Connections with the community will help youth, young adults, families, and professionals to build sustaining, positive support systems and foster opportunities for young people to overcome the current culture of addiction. 

 

MHA of Columbia Greene programs serve children, families, and individuals across Columbia Greene Counties who struggle with abuse, neglect, trauma, mental health challenges, educational difficulties, and assist with supportive housing, peer services and more to help ensure people in Columbia & Greene Counties can live the life they’ve always wanted to live.
