Ladies Auxiliary of the Lexington Fire/Rescue Company members, please note the annual meeting/covered dish that was scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 12, will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13 in the Firemen’s Room at 6 p.m.

The Lexington Holiday Market on Dec. 2 at the Community Hall in West Kill, was wonderful.  The hall was filled with vendors with all kinds of homemade crafts and a great of variety of so many items too numerous to list.  Excellent music was provided by Karen and Jim Rauter.

The Ladies Aid of the West Kill United Methodist Church is very grateful for your support of their bake sale and the Lexington Historical Society had their yummy soups too. 

The Greene Room Players “Songbirds” are performing at a free concert at the Mountain Top Library, 6093 Main Street, Tannersville on Friday, Dec. 8, 7 p.m.  Feel free to donate a canned good to help support the local pantry.

The first Micro Sunday School that was held at the Lexington/West Kill UMC on Dec. 2 was very well attended with 11 children in class. Saturday, Dec. 9 is the next Micro Sunday School at the Lexington/West Kill UMC, 54 Route 13A, Lexington, to learn about Advent and the birth of Jesus from 11 a.m. to noon, for ages 3 – 12.  Teens are also welcome to join and help out.  Parents and guardians are welcome to stay.  On Saturday, Dec. 16, it will be held at the Ashland Community UMC, Ashland from 11 a.m to noon.  Please call 518-429-8054 if you are interested or have questions.

Saturday, Dec. 9 is the Annual Cookie Walk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ashland Community UMC. 

Come over to the Mountain Top Library, Tannersville on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for some fun activities.  In partnership with the HTC SPTO and part of the Tannersville Holiday Stroll, there will be a hot chocolate station, ornament making, rubber band ball, bookmark making and a book sale.

Would you like a spaghetti and meatball dinner?  The HTC Class of 2025 is sponsoring this dinner at the Hunter Elementary School on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 3 p.m to 6 p.m.  Eat in or takeout, $15 for a dinner, $12 for extra meatballs.  Menu includes homemade Italian meatballs simmered in their very own sauce and served over pasta, fresh baked Italian bread, garlic bread and homemade biscotti.  Tickets are available from 11th graders or from smurin@htcschoos.org.

Santa Claus is coming to town!  He will be arriving on the Lexington Fire/Rescue Company’s fire truck to the tree lighting and carol sing at the Christmas tree at the junction of Spruceton Road and Route 42, West Kill,  Saturday, Dec. 9.  Meet at the Community Hall, 141 Spruceton Road, West Kill at 6 p.m. and we will walk the short distance to the tree.  After the tree lighting, it’s back to the Community Hall for refreshments and visiting with Santa.

Sunday, Dec. 10 there will be a Santa parade starting at 5 p.m. at the Grand Gorge Firehouse,  Route 30 South to Rick’s Tire; Route 23 East to the Hitching Post; Route 30 North to the Civic Center; Route 23 West to Sundaes.  Join everyone back at the Grand Gorge Firehouse directly after the parade for tree lighting and meet with Santa.

The Hunter-Tannersville Central School District Student Council will host a free Senior Citizen Dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 12 in the Tannersville cafeteria at 5 p.m.  Menu includes oven roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, and dessert.  Please call 518-589-5400 for reservations.

You are invited to the East Jewett UMC on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 6 p.m. (inclement weather date is Wednesday, Dec. 20) for singing, a covered dish supper and to see the beautifully decorated church. 

Friday, Dec. 15 is the Mountain Top UMC Parish Churches and Community Christmas party at the Lexington/West Kill UMC at 6 p.m.  There will be a short program, a covered dish meal and a grab bag gift exchange with a gift of a reminder of  “’Tis the Season.”  Have a decoration, an ornament that you would like to share, a holiday item you no longer use?  The holiday themed grab bag exchange is a lot of fun with lots of laughs.  It is an evening of good food, fun and fellowship.  All are welcome to join.

Happy birthday to Mike and Eric Petosa on Friday, Dec. 8.

Sunday, Dec. 10 is Susan and Carl Simpfenderfer’s wedding anniversary.

Rick Dearstyne celebrates his birthday on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Dec. 14 is Rocco D’Addario’s birthday.

The Greene County Department of Human Services Senior Nutrition Program menu for the week of Dec. 11 – Dec. 15 is as follows:  Monday—Beef chili, broccoli, brown rice, tropical fruit; Tuesday—Chicken quarters with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, vanilla mousse; Wednesday—Nutrition Education - Catskill – Chicken Parmesan, Italian mixed vegetables, spinach, whole wheat linguini, banana bread; Thursday—Roast pork with gravy, applesauce, mashed potatoes, red cabbage, fruited Jell-O; Friday—Crab stuffed cod, baked potato, winter mixed vegetables, fresh fruit.  The menu is the meal that is delivered to all Greene County homebound meal clients.  All persons over the age of 60 can receive a meal.  Suggested donation for each meal is $4.  Those wishing to receive a meal must call the respective location by noon a day in advance.  The number to to call for the Jewett Senior Center at the Jewett Municipal Building, Route 23C, Jewett is 518-263-4392.

The Kaaterskill UMC Food Pantry that is available at the Tannersville Village Hall, One Park Lane, Tannersville, will be open weather permitting, Dec. 13, 20, and 27 – all Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the third Saturdays of each month from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. the pantry will be packing deliveries for folks that are unable to get to the pantry.  That time is also available for people to stop in as well as the Wednesday times.  Please call 518-589-5787 to arrange a delivery or if you have an emergency need at anytime.  

Sunday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve day, there will be a 10 a.m. children and families service at the Kaaterskill UMC, Main Street, Tannersville.  Open to all,  everyone is invited.

There will be Candlelight Services on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. at the Ashland UMC Community Church, Ashland and 9 p.m. at the Windham-Hensonville UMC, Windham.

Sunday, Dec. 31 there will be a joint service with the Mountain Top UMC Parish Churches at 10 a.m. in the Lexington/West Kill UMC, Lexington, followed by a covered dish lunch. All are invited to attend.

Prayers for all who are dealing with loss, illnesses, healing, difficulties, our country, our military and their families, the world.
