The Roxbury Arts Group is proud to announce the award of $164,000 in grants from the New York State Council on the Arts to support the thoughtful and engaging programming delivered by the organization in 2024.

“We are honored to receive this recognition of the important work that we are doing in rural communities,” says Jenny Rosenzweig, Executive Director of the Roxbury Arts Group. “In turn, these funds are invested right back into our local economy through the programs we deliver, the grants we award, and the artists we support.”

The total grant award of $164,000 will support multiple efforts of the Roxbury Arts Group. $104,000 is dedicated to the Delaware County Arts Grant program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts that is administered in Delaware County by the Roxbury Arts Group. “Through this grant program, we are able to support arts projects and programs that take place in in the towns, villages, and hamlets throughout Delaware County,” says Jenny Rosenzweig.

Further support of local artists by the Roxbury Arts Group is evidenced by the three successful Individual Artist grants awarded to Delaware County creatives. These competitive grants of $10,000 each have been awarded to Anne Elizabeth Moore of Hobart, Jennifer Kabat of Margaretville, and Marisa Caruso of Stamford to support the creation of new work, and were made possible through the sponsorship of RAG.

Governor Kathy Hochul said, “Research confirms what we’ve always known here in New York: arts and culture are a powerhouse, with a staggering return on investment for our economy and our communities. Nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences generated $151.7 billion in economic activity nationwide in 2022 and New York’s unparalleled arts and culture sector is leading the way to benefit our residents, our students and our visitors every day. I commend these grantees on their achievements and look forward to their contributions in the coming year."

The Roxbury Arts Group is also thrilled to have received a $30,000 Support for Organizations grant which will be dedicated to supporting the performances, workshops, exhibits, and arts education activities that they deliver at the Roxbury Arts Center, the Headwaters Arts Center in Stamford NY, the Old School Baptist Church in Denver NY, and to community members throughout the four-county region that they serve.

“We’re busy planning our 2024 season and putting this funding to work locally,” says Jenny Rosenzweig. “But it is also important to recognize that this generous award only partially supports our efforts. We are also grateful for the essential and continued support the Roxbury Arts Group receives locally from the A. Lindsay and Olive B. Foundation, the Robinson Broadhurst Foundation, our local business sponsors, and individual donors.” To learn more about upcoming programs being offered by the Roxbury Arts Group, visit roxburyartsgroup.org or call 607.326.7908.
