County Weighted Vote Adjustment Proposed

DELHI - Delaware County Supervisors proposed weighted vote adjustments based on the 2020 United States of America census report. Adjustments have not been made since 2011, after the last census report.

Weighted votes allow for county supervisors to have varied voting power based on how many residents they are voting in representation. The more residents in a town, the more votes that supervisor will receive.

Weighted votes calculated in 2011 used a total of 4,799 votes leaving a majority vote needed to pass a resolution at 2,400 so long as all supervisors are present. New calculations use the total weighted votes of 200.

A public hearing regarding the proposed adjustment is scheduled Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room of the County Office Building at 111 Main Street, Delhi.
