DiGiovanni, Bernhardt Lead SCS over Dolgeville in OT

SCHOHARIE - Preston DiGiovanni scored seven of his 12 points as the Storm rallied to down Dolgeville 74-68 Saturday. The game was the first round of the Andy Palmer tournament in Canajoharie. Schoharie will play Saturday at 4:30 against Little Falls for the championship game.

Dolgeville led 18-12 after the first eight minutes and Dolgeville led 31-29 at the half. Schoharie trailed by two, 46-44 going into the fourth quarter but tied the game at 62-62 going into overtime.

DiGiovanni hit a three early in the extra session and then hit all four free throws as SCS outscored Dolgeville 12-6 in OT.

Matt Bernhardt led SCS with 24 points and hit five three pointers. DiDiovanni hit two threes. Brandon Toro added 16 points for Schoharie, while Emmett Gagnon scored 12 points, and Devon Schrader scored eight. Toro hit four threes, including one in overtime.

Last Wednesday, Berne-Knox jumped out to a 20-8 lead on the way to a 79-47 victory over Schoharie.

The Bulldogs added to that lead with an 18-15 second quarter to lead 38-23 at the half. Berne then exploded for 27 points in the third quarter to put the game away.

Dayne Coates led Berne with 20 points while Shane Kirker added 19 points, AJ Wright scored 16 points and Blake Shaver added 13. Coates and Kirker each hit four three-pointers for Berne,

Preston DiGiovanni led the way for the Storm with 26 points and six three-pointers. He scored 11 points in the second quarter when he hit three threes, and seven in the third. Andrew Martin and Matt Bernhardt added eight points each.
