Homeschool Group Expands

SHARON SPRINGS AND COBLESKILL — Your Homeschool Village, a local homeschool co-op started in 2022 in the Sharon Area has expanded tenfold in this 2023-2024 school year!

Originally meetups and activities were at the Sharon Springs Free Library but have since expanded to a larger venue in Cobleskill to accommodate all the new friendly faces!

The group consists of families from all ‘walks of life’ and is a wonderful way for homeschooled children (and parents) to make new friends!

There are monthly field trips, holiday-related gatherings, and playground meetups in the warmer weather too! Meetups are optional, it's a casual group with a fun attitude towards education and socialization.

With a successful last year of meetups and field trips, the group organically expanded through word of mouth. They say it takes a Village to raise children and the parents in this group are happy to share ideas, lend a hand, and most importantly share words of encouragement.

Homeschooling, especially that of elementary-age children, has become a growing minority across the country in the last few years post-pandemic. Changing dynamics in the workforce and requirements for students within public education, have encouraged those once on the fence about homeschooling, to now take a more conscious look and move toward taking those extra efforts.

This group is welcoming to all ages and abilities of homeschooled children, including younger siblings!  This group is also a great way to find out more information if you are interested in homeschooling in the future.

To learn more about the group and schedule of events, please check out “Your Homeschool Village” on Facebook.
