Huyck Preserve Announces Summer Research Fellow

Written By The Mountain Eagle on 1/25/24 | 1/25/24

RENSSELAERVILLE - Mark Lesser, Ph.D. will lead the Huyck Preserve's 2024 Undergraduate Odum Internship in the role of Summer Research Fellow. Mark is a forest ecologist in the Center for Earth and Environmental Science at SUNY Plattsburgh. Broadly, Mr. Lesser’s research focuses on understanding the factors that dictate plant species range limits. Recently, he has become interested in disturbance ecology and how differences in forest structure across the landscape influence wildlife habitat selection.

Be sure to come to this summer's Thursday Night Lecture series (and potlucks) where you'll have a chance to welcome him and the interns to the Preserve.
