MIDDLEBURGH - Wes Laraway was not off the Middleburgh town board for long.
Mr. Laraway, who declined to run for re-election as supervisor in the fall, was named by his successor, John Youmans, to fill the vacancy on the town board at last week's re-organizational meeting Thursday.
Mr. Laraway, who served one four-year term as supervisor, will fill the vacancy left by the election of Mr. Youmans. He will serve for one year and the seat will come up for election in the fall in a special election. Mr. Laraway retired as a long-time Middleburgh Central School Social Studies teacher in June.
Mr. Laraway will also serve as deputy supervisor.
Also returning to duty for the town is former Councilman Steve Hendrickson, who also decided not to run for re-election in the fall.
Mr. Hendrickson was named as a building consultant for the shelter project completion at a rate of $150 per month until the project closes. He has overseen the completion of the Community Center project for several years as a board member. The Community Center on Cotton Hill Road now houses the town offices and board meetings. It can also be used an emergency shelter if needed.
