Local United Methodist Churches Plan Another “Operation: Home Repair”

Written By The Mountain Eagle on 1/21/24 | 1/21/24

Right here in Schoharie County and its surrounding communities, there is a tremendous need for critical home repair. Whether it’s the addition of a ramp for accessibility, leaky roofs, or unsafe conditions within homes, the needs are many and the funds and labor to make these repairs are often not obtainable. Local member churches of the Mosaic United Methodist Cooperative Ministry would like to help. Plans are underway for another “Operation: Home Repair,” a volunteer-based home repair ministry serving those in need throughout the area.  This next year hopes to build on the success of their inaugural year in 2023 when nine homes were repaired bringing together over 80 local volunteers. Repair projects will take place throughout the weeks of July 8-19, 2024.

Do you have critical home repair needs? You can apply to be considered for this project by obtaining an application at your local United Methodist church or filling out an application online: http://tinyurl.com/OperationHomeRepairHomeowner. Applications are due by March 1, 2024.

Would you like to volunteer? The Mosaic churches are calling for any and all volunteers who want to be part of this effort. We are looking for dedicated folks who want to serve their community, be part of a team effort, and make a difference. Read more about the project and fill out the volunteer application online at this link: http://tinyurl.com/OperationHomeRepairVolunteer. Volunteer applications are due by May 1.

All questions can be directed to the Cobleskill United Methodist Church office at 518-234-3671.
