Leslie Lee Cole Sr., known to his loved ones as Les, passed away on January 14, 2024, comfortably in his home in Schoharie, NY, after a long battle with COPD at the age of 73. He was born on January 25, 1950 in Seneca Falls, NY to Winifred and Douglas Cole. Les was a dairy farmer and truck driver for over 30 years, with hauling milk from local dairy farms being his favorite.
Les had a dark sense of humor and a charismatic personality. He didn't know a stranger and loved making people laugh. He was passionate about traveling and often gave his family directions to the best and quickest routes, as he had likely been there before. Les attended South Kortright Central School during his educational years. He had a strong and simple faith. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, playing pool, and spending time with his family. Les's favorite things in life were his children and grandchildren and he would often talk about them with pride and joy.
Les will be deeply missed by his family and friends and is survived by his children: Carolyn (Cliff) Mabine, James "Jimmy" Cole, Leslie "Jay" (Jessie) Cole Jr, and Katrina (Mike) Cole. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Taylor (Michael) Harris, Sidney (Joe) Rider, Tucker (Jasynda) Cole, Inda (Joshua) Fitch, Braiden Cole, Alexandria, Aislynn, Kynlee, Soren, Gavin, and Weston; brothers: Carl (Ann) Cole and Glenn Cole; sister Roberta "Sis"; sister-in-law: Deborah Cole and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Les was preceded by his parents, sisters: Shirley and Betty, brother: Gary and sister-in-law: Donna.
Keeping Les's wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, his family will gather together to honor his memory. Inurnment, at the family’s convenience, will be in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart, NY.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Amanda Waszkiewicz, Kandis Sisson, and Helios Care for caring for Les during his last years and in his final days, making it possible for him to be comfortable at home.
