Hey Neighbors!
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had an enjoyable Holiday Season!
The weather has been unseasonably warm with more rain than snow this past month. Looks like an end to that with about 3 inches of snow/ wintery mix expected early on Sunday. Looks like a storm is predicted after that with another potential 5-6 inches on Tuesday evening and nearly the same 5-6 inches into Wednesday. This should all be a wintry mix so look out for poor road conditions early next week.
Don’t forget the first Friday activities in Cherry Valley! There is always something special going on!
Happy Birthday!
Lots of Birthdays to celebrate in the New Year! BIG Happy Birthday to: John Hall, Judy Christman, Tammy Behr, and Vicki Hellijas!

SSRS will fund any training that is needed. SSRS meets the first Monday of the month at 7 PM and would be happy to answer any questions on how to support your community.

Sharon Springs Free Library
We look forward to serving you next year and would like to thank all of our patrons, friends and community members for supporting us in 2023. We faced some challenges together. Main Street was torn up and sported a new stop light that blocked entry to the library when the driveway was in sight. You came anyway. We asked you to sign petitions so that we could get onto the ballot in November to ask for a tax increase. You signed. We asked you for a tax increase in November. An overwhelming majority of "Yes" votes ensured our continued mission and services. We also ran a fundraising campaign and are grateful for your generous responses.
We had some fun together. We ran a children's and a family summer reading program with take home grab bags and you participated. We held a poster contest using the summer reading themes of Sharing, Caring and Kindness, and you created some great entries. Our monthly book discussions and weekly story times thrived because of your participation. We expanded our children's area to meet the demand and added a new bookshelf. And we checked things out and checked things in and processed requests and helped send faxes and assisted with computer questions and generally did all we could do to be the library and provide the services you want. We couldn't have done it without you. We wish everyone a very Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you in 2024.
Should old acquaintances be forgotten? Absolutely not. I (Helen Thomas) am retiring from my position as Director of the Sharon Springs Free Library as of the end of the year, and my greatest hope is that I will be remembered as having made valuable contributions while I was here. I have enjoyed every minute of it. This is a wonderful library in a wonderful town.
