MIDDLEBURGH - The $25.03 million Middleburgh Central School budget proposed for the 2024-25 school year is following the district's vision, Superintendent Mark Place told school board members at their January 10 meeting.
The budget, which was officially presented by school business manager Robyn Bhend, stands at $723,000 more than this year's spending plan.
The proposed plan is a "rollover budget" which retains all current positions and makes some key additions.
The additions include college in the classrooms, funding for the elementary school after-school program, and field trips.
The after-school program, run by the Schoharie River Center, has been very popular in the elementary school. The funding from the program is through a grant but it runs out in July.
As for field trips, Mr. Place said the "return on investment for exceeds the expense."
The additional costs in the budget total: funding the elementary after-school program, $300,000; college in the high school program, $15,000; and increase in field trips, $10,000.
Also included in the budget is $100,000 in the capital reserve account which is used for small building projects. The district receives state aid on the projects. For next year, the district will probably update the security access in both school buildings.
