PRATTSVILLE – A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. Hope 2024 is the best ever for you and your loved ones and all your friends. How was your Christmas? Know you got all your heart desired and especially spending the holiday with your family. They are the best.

Now is the time to thank our medical professionals, their support teams, law enforcement, volunteers, essential workers and all who work to make our lives safe and healthy and happy. And we must thank our ever faithful and dedicated Kathy Sherman for her many years as Town Clerk. Kathy will not be idle being our resident designer and maker of her famous Katie Purses. It is not only purses she makes but wallets, credit card holders, cosmetic and other pocket cases, even those made to your specifications. Many have had briefcase type carryalls made to order and others who request specific motifs or holiday themes. Kathy will always welcome your orders at 518-299-3186. A most productive and much deserved retirement Kathy. Thank you for all your support of local our organizations and causes. You are the best. We need more Kathy Shermans.

We also thank all of you who helped make out 2023 VA Christmas Celebration one of the most appreciated ever. Our new contact at the Voluntary Services, “Dom” a veteran, in his first year in that position for our VA Christmas Celebration, was amazed at the loving care, multiple gifts, time, effort and presentation of the Christmas gifts to the thirty-two veterans we were able to bring to a Merry and Bright Christmas. Of course this was all made possible by your very generous donations to our hospitalized veterans. The local American Legion Virgil E. Deyo Post 1327 and American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327 will be sponsoring adaptive sports skiers from the Stratton VAMC at the Adaptive Sports Center at Ski Windham on Friday, Janaury 26. The Post will be sponsoring the actual skiing and the Unit will host their lunches. Your love and support continue after Christmas. You are invited to attend and cheer these brave and courageous veterans in their quest to maintain normalcy in their lives.

Need some of your holiday news – whatever it might be. Did see some snow on Bear Pen on December 31. Do wish we could have some now! If it is winter and cold, you might as well have snow to cover up the brown ground.

Shelly and Elliott Brainard entertained their entire family for the Christmas holidays including Alisa from North Carolina, Adam and Kelly from Coeyman’s Hollow and locals Stephanie and Dylan and Kory. The Gurleys needed two days to entertain their families’ Christmas celebrations, Nadine and sons Lincoln and Crew, and Christina and son Tanner came in on Sunday and Devon and Rob and Amanda came in on Christmas day. These groups also visited mom’s family the Dunphys. They will have to go on diets after that weekend of eating.

Best wishes for better health in 2024 to Nancy Orr, Ron and Mary Cline, Mary O’Hara, Arnold Jaeger, Joanne Dunphy and all others dealing with whatever new strain of the virus that is going around.

The American Legion Auxiliary Virgil E. Deyo Unit 1327 will have their formerly delayed meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 7 PM at the Prattsville Town Hall. It will be a short meeting to inform members of what went on at the end of year business and upcoming dates for 2024.

Go Bills. Buffalo Girls – Dottie Pickett, Shelly Brainard, Ginny Gurley and out in Rochester Nancy Gurley Hodge, Taylor Hodge Beadle, Alice Delmar Robinson and all local families relatives, won’t you come out tonight for the Bills? Yes, there is the Bills Mafia and now we have the Buffalo Girls.

Happy Birthday on December 30 to Kory O’Hara, Debbie Baker, and Diana Jaeger and Sandy Kiley. On December 31 it is Happy Birthday to Dan McGlynn. It is Happy Birthday to Janet Chatfield and Carli Ann O’Hara on January 1. Happy Birthday to Lana Breigle and Jim Hull on January 2. On January 3 it is Happy Birthday to Ursula Lindley.
