DELHI - Bakers Grimm is coming to Delhi. Delmar Crim has been baking bread all around Delaware County for several years now. You can find Crim's crocodile bread, bagels, and more at the Delhi Farmers Market, the Hamden Filling Station, and other locations and markets. While there has not been an official opening date set yet, Crim was excited to pop open during the Delhi St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, Mar. 23.

There was an assortment of pastries, bread, and a delicious turkey sandwich with cranberries and wholegrain mustard for only $5. Crim said the sandwich was inspired by his time overseas in Europe. "This is the kind of sandwich we found all over Europe," he said. Not only is it affordable and portioned perfectly, but the bread is stiffer and takes time to chew making the sandwich last longer and helping with portion control, Crim explained. Crim said his son Louis Crim, who was checking people out at the time, came back from Germany saying he lost weight due to the bread being tougher. The little sandwich fits perfectly in the hand with a thick slice of turkey, one piece of cheese, and one piece of lettuce and it was delightful. Each flavor popped on its own and the bread was soft but firm and of course, baked fresh.

Crim's wife, Carla Crim was there helping out as well. She said while baking is not her thing, she enjoyed helping to build the countertops and bread stands. Carla said she did get the opportunity to shape some pastries for this pop-up event for the first time. It was a family affair, she said as she put another crocodile loaf into a bag ready for sale.

While the family is excited to open their doors officially in the near future, Crim said there is a lot to prepare for before they do.
