DCHA to Host Presenter on the History of Local Education

Saturday, April 13, 2pm

DELHI — Join the Delaware County Historical Association as we host Casey Jakubowski, PhD, former Delaware County resident and classroom teacher. His presentation will explore the history of the state’s policy towards one-room, and later small centralized schools, with a Delaware County focus.

Local schools were created out of the New York state government's World War II Commission on Efficiency and reflected the changes occurring in the mid-twentieth century as New York transitioned from a rural state to a suburban-dominated and urban-focused government. An examination of how local schools were supported, then centralized will highlight the local implementation of the state's policy.

Dr. Jakubowski has authored seven books, with multiple references and examples from NY's Leatherstocking region.

For more information, please call (607) 746-3849, or email: dchadelhi@gmail.com

The presentation will begin at 2 pm. Free admission.
