Search Warrant Leads to Residence Illegally Manufacturing Firearms

On Tuesday March 26, 2024 at approximately 8:50 AM, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office  executed a search warrant on a residence located on Main St. in the Town of Cairo. Occupants of said  residence were believed to be illegally manufacturing firearms. The search of the residence resulted  in numerous items recovered to include; a loaded SBR AR-15 Assault Rifle with a 3D printed lower, a  high capacity magazine, numerous 3D printed frames for an AR style rifle, a 3D printer frame for a  handgun, numerous magazines, ammunition, suppressor attachments, and several Polymer80  template blocks for handguns and rifles. Additionally, members of the Sheriff’s Office had previously  recovered a 3D printer, suppressors, and a 3D printed handgun frame. 

The Sheriff’s Office charged 33-year-old Ian J. Lynch of Cairo with (1 Count) Criminal Possession  of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree PL 265.03(3) - a class C Felony, (1 Count) Criminal Possession of a  Weapon in the 3rd Degree PL 265.02(7) - a class D Felony, (1 Count) Criminal Possession of a Weapon  in the 3rd Degree PL 265.02(1) - a class D Felony, (2 Counts) Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree PL 265.02(8) – a class D felony, and (2 Counts) Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree PL 265.02(2) - a Class D Felony. Ian was arraigned in the Town of Cairo Court and remanded to  the Greene County Jail without bail.  

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Greene County District Attorney’s Office,  the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and Greene County Probation.
