Schoharie Chapter NSDAR plans a busy June 1st event at Lasell Hall

Written By The Mountain Eagle on 4/25/24 | 4/25/24

What do you think our valley was like in 1774?

Visit us at Lasell Hall on June 1st from 10-4, where you will learn “Who We Were Before We Were Enemies” – a reflection of the time period just before the unrest that led to the Revolutionary War.

Stop by to see demonstrations of colonial life, including blacksmithing, textile arts, beer-making, powder horn making, children's games, and music. There will be a militia muster, but no battles, (as this time period was before skirmishes began).

Author and historian Jeff O’Connor will give a talk about pre-war economics.

A representative from the Iroquois Museum will be joining us to talk about the 18th century relationships with the local Mohawks.

Historians will be on hand to answer questions and present information relative to the pre-conflict time period. There is a short walk (or ride) up Spring Street to the 1743 Palatine House,  and Lasell Hall will be open for self-guided tours.

Admission to the event is free. A tavern lunch will be provided inside Lasell Hall for a small charge.
