HARPERSFIELD — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced that a Brooklyn, NY resident is facing the charge of Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Registration or Privilege is Suspended or Revoked as well as a violation for Speeding in a 55mph zone following a traffic stop in the Town of Harpersfield.
In the early morning of July 27th, 2024, a Sheriff’s Deputy observed three vehicles operating on a public highway speeding on State Highway 23 in the Town of Harpersfield. A traffic stop was conducted with all three vehicles and during the course of the traffic stop, the Deputy discovered one of the vehicles registrations was suspended due to no insurance in effect which is a misdemeanor per NYS Vehicle and Traffic Laws. The driver of that vehicle was identified as 23-year-old male, Darius M. Johnson, of Brooklyn, NY.
Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged with Operation of a motor vehicle while registration or privilege is suspended or revoked and Speed in a 55mph Zone.
Johnson was issued a Traffic Summons, and an Appearance Ticket to appear before the Town of Harpersfield, Court at a later date to answer for the charges.
