Chamber to Launch Candidate Training Institute

Written By The Mountain Eagle on 8/23/24 | 8/23/24

DELHI — Residents interested in public service and preparing for elected office will receive practical skills through a new initiative recently announced by the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.

Participants in the Chamber’s Candidate Training Institute, beginning on October 23, will receive exposure to critical issues facing Delaware County through lectures, small group conversations, personal introspection, and panel discussions.  CTI curriculum includes leadership styles, strategic planning, community development models, media relations, and building partnerships.  It also includes such mechanics of running for office as how to get on the ballot, campaign finances, honing a message, and more.

“The Chamber believes that business-friendly policy makers should be in the room when important decisions impacting our communities are made,” said Chamber President Ray Pucci. “To ensure this happens, we need to create a pipeline of people who are willing and prepared to step forward and become policy makers in our county and villages.”

The program includes four weekly ninety-minute evening sessions, starting on October 23 to be held in the Chamber’s Meeting Room at 5 ½ Main Street in Delhi.  Participants are required to attend all sessions. There is no fee to join and the program is open to everyone.  Enrollment is limited to 20 participants.

More information, including a registration form, is available under the Events and Programs tab at www.DelawareCounty.org.
