STAMFORD – There was a light turnout for last Wednesday's meeting of the Stamford Town Board, which was held in record time, with two board members missing.
The town of Stamford did not receive too much storm damage, according to Kevin Rinehart, deputy highway superintendent. There were a few trees down, but there was no damage to roadways due to the flash flooding that some other local towns experienced. Town crews have finished chip-sealing town roadways and have been helping other towns and villages with their projects. All that remains in the category of summer road maintenance is adding shoulders to the newly paved roadways, which included Davis Road.
Lindsay Whitbeck, from the Delaware County Department of Economic Development, was present to speak about the Strategic Plan. A recent survey developed by a summer intern is due back in and will be used to help identify areas where the department could be more supportive of the towns. She said it provides a broader aspect of what is needed, what the towns would like to see, and what can be done to help in general. "It gives us a better idea for planning future projects and the types of businesses you would like to see in the area," she explained. She said they received 30 responses from towns and villages. She was hoping for a few more responses before the end of the week.
The surveys were needed by the end of the week as the intern prepared to return to college. She said he would continue to tweak the results, but the major portion of the responses were needed very soon.
Supervisor John Kosier said he is anxious to see the results. The surveys consisted of 10 questions. Kosier said the question about what he would like to see improved included broadband, public transportation, and new housing.
