Gilboa-Roxbury Defeats SK to lead Delaware League Standings

DELAWARE LEAGUE – The Gilboa-Roxbury boys added another game to the win column, in a key Delaware League match on Tuesday, defeating South Kortright/Andes 1-0 and top the league standings. 

Margaretville topped Windham 5-1 last Thursday to pick up a league win under the lights at  MCS. Hunter Balcom did most of the damage as he connected for a hat trick, while Robert Sass and David Sanchez added one goal each. Jayden Palumbo scored the lone goal for WAJ.

South Kortright/Andes shutout Schenevus 6-0 in a non-league game last Thursday. Jack Byne led the way with a pair of goals while JB Trimbell, Boston Quarino, Skylar MacIntyre and Evan Smith added single goals to the win. Shane Edwards added a pair of assists and Janson Sturniolo added one assist.

Stamford/Jefferson shutout Hunter-Tannersville 5-0 for a league win last Thursday.  J/S got goals from Leland Donato-Williamson, Jon Michael Leas, Jake Mrozik, Tristan Thomson and Gavin VanEtten, while Will Eklund added a pair of assists.

Gilboa-Roxbury also got in a 3-0 Delaware League win over Charlotte Valley last Thursday. Julian Grieco, Roni Grieco, and Collin Lyke all connected in the win, while Logan Vamosy and Burton Strauch each added an assist.

In action on Friday, Walton/Downsville shutout J/S 5-0 for a league victory.  Chase Mabery scored four goals and assisted on the other to do most of the damage. Tyler Reed also had an assist.

Margaretville and Delhi played to a 1-1 tie in the opening round of the annual Nelson Tournament, with the host team Blue Devils advancing 5-4 on penalty kicks. Hunter Balcom scored for the Blue Devils, while Cole Vredenburgh netted Delhi's lone goal.

Morris then defeated Margaretville 1-0 in the championship game to claim the Nelson Tourney title. In the consolation round, SS Seward defeated Delhi 3-0 to finish third.

Cobleskill-Richmondville defeated Gilboa-Roxbury 3-1 on their home turf under the lights. Julian Grieco connected for GCR's lone goal with an assist from Logan Vamosy.

Worcester defeated SK/A 1-0 in the opening round of the annual Chic Walshe Tournament in Davenport on Saturday, while Cooperstown defeated the host team, Charlotte Valley 3-0 to advance to the championship set for this Saturday.

The Gilboa-Roxbury boys shut out South Kortright 1-0 in league action on Tuesday. Roni Grieco scored the lone goal of the game and David Cammer put out two saves from the goal to keep SK/A off the board. The win improves GCR to 3-0 in league play and 5-2-2 on the season.
