Gilboa/Roxbury Picks Up A Pair of Wins

DELAWARE LEAGUE – Downsville fell to Liberty 2-1 in overtime to lose the championship of the annual James Campbell Tournament at Downsville on Saturday.

Walton/Downsville advanced to the championship with a 3-1 victory over Monticello. Chase Mabery scored two goals to lead the cause, while Tyler Reed added a single goal. Gavin Harrington contributed two assists.

Charlotte Valley opened its soccer season with a 3-0 loss to non-league Middleburgh on Saturday.

The Windham boys fell 3-2 in overtime to non-league Chatham on Saturday. Jack Pelletier and Jayden Palumbo each found the goal with Payton Dempsey adding an assist.

Gilboa/Roxbury shutout Hunter-Tannersville 5-0 last Thursday. Donovan Fermin struck for two goals and one assist to lead the charge. Burton Strauch and Gavin Bellinger added single goals and Roni Grieco and Logan Vamosy each had an assist.

The Margaretville Blue Devils fell 5-1 to Liberty last Thursday in the Campbell Tournament in Downsville. Robert Sass scored Margaretville's lone goal. They defeated Bainbridge-Guilford 3-1 one in their opener. Sass, Anthony Maggio, and Isaac Hernandez each scored single goals in the win and Ryan Sanford had an assist.

On Wednesday, they were shut out by Roundout Valley 6-0 in a non-league game on the road.

Hunter-Tannersville fell to non-league CherryValley-Springfield/Sharon Springs 6-5 on Tuesday. Andrew Lusk scored one goal and had an assist to lead H-T scoring, while teammates Blake Cameron and Donovan Garcia each tallied a goal and Ian Gilmore and Leo Cruz added assists for the Wildcats.

Gilboa/Roxbury shutout non-league Delhi 5-0 on Tuesday. Donovan Firmen led the charge with a pair of goals and an assist. Roni Grieco also scored a pair of goals and Collin Lyke added one goal and one assist.

Jefferson/Stamford defeated Charlotte Valley 2-0 on Tuesday as Jon Michael Leas and Pat Terk each found the goal.
