Schoharie Colonial Heritage Association is seeking donations of sweet and savory delights from local bakers, as the nonprofit prepares for its 48th annual Fall Antiques in Schoharie.
The two-day antique show and sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Schoharie Valley Railroad Museum complex, located at 143 Depot Lane in Schoharie.
The event will feature antique vendors from across New York State and beyond, along with the Heritage Crafters and a country kitchen, with food, donated homemade desserts and beverages available for purchase.
Admission is $6, with free onsite parking.
The nonprofit association uses the funds it raises at the fall show, as well as a spring antique show, to operate the Schoharie Valley Railroad Museum, the 1743 Palatine House Museum (Schoharie County’s oldest building), and the Children’s Summer Theater Program.
Some of that money comes from selling donated homemade desserts. Volunteers (some of whom have been soliciting baked goods for decades) have been hitting the phones to get the word out that the SCHA Bakery Cupboard is in need of donations.
“Fall Antique Show shoppers look forward to our made-from-scratch menu, especially topping their choices off with a wee bit of something sweet,” the Fill the Bakery Cupboard Committee said in an email. “We love showcasing our local bakers’ talents and welcome your donated, mouthwatering cookies, brownies, pies and cakes for our upcoming event.”
Donations can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Creamery building, located at 143 Depot Lane.
In addition to baked goods, SCHA will be offering pies from Smith’s Orchard Pie Shop, which people can purchase and donate for $15 per pie. Checks should be made payable to SCHA, noting “pie” on the memo line, and can be sent to Schoharie Colonial Heritage Association, PO Box 554, Schoharie NY 12157. Orders are requested by Thursday, Sept. 19.

“Although our first choice is to present homemade delectable delights, we have reached out to Smith’s Orchard Pie Shop to provide an option for our bakers as well as to non-bakers,” the committee said.
In addition to the upcoming antique show, the Schoharie Valley Railroad Museum will hold its annual Model Train Show, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, on Depot Lane. Admission is $6 for adults and free for children.
