Congratulations to the Town of Lexington Fire/Rescue Company for receiving First Place Best Appearing 5 – 8 in Line at the Greene County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Convention Dress Parade on Sept. 7 in Cairo. Marching for Lexington were Paul Dwon, Liza Dwon, Kevin Simmons, Michael Falke, Sarah Jordan, Jack Jordan, Emmett Turk and Michael Collarone. And, of course, congratulations to all of the Fire Departments and Ladies Auxiliary members who attended and participated. The weather certainly did not cooperate, but rain or shine, the parade goes on. The Convention was hosted by Round Top this year. Thank you to all the hero volunteers.
Jane and Joe Concato will be participating in the Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS) annual March on for Brain Injury. The event is an opportunity to join others to advocate, raise awareness and support those impacted by brain injury. The event will be held at Walkway Over the Hudson in Highland, NY on Saturday, Sept. 14. For more information, contact Jane or Joe at 518-989-1019.
The Lexington Farmers Market will be held under the pavilion at the Lexington Municipal Building, 3542 Route 42, on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lots of produce and all kinds of food items available.
Sunday, Sept. 15, 2 p.m. at the Mitchell Hollow Chapel, 901 Mill Street and Mitchell Hollow Road, Windham, there will be a service with Lula Anderson as speaker and special music by Eric and Arlene. Please come to help maintain this non-denominational Historic Church.
There will be an Italian Smorgasbord at the East Jewett UMC, 2252 Route 23C, East Jewett on Thursday, Sept. 19. The 12th Annual Mountain Top Historical Society Postcard Show with John Duda, will be held at the Ulster and Delaware Train Station on the Mountain Top Historical Society’s campus, 5132 Route 23A, Haines Falls, Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Society will also be selling ephemera from the attic in a special sale. Entry fee is $3 at the door.
The Kaaterskill UMC Food Pantry, by the Tannersville Firehouse, at the Tannersville Village Hall, One Park Lane, Tannersville, is open on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The third Saturday of the month from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. is for delivery to folks who do not have transportation. Call 518-589-5787 if you need delivery. Contingent on volunteer availability. If you would like to help Kaaterskill UMC Food Pantry, you can also drop food off at Brave the Flames Restaurant, when open and Tannersville Village Hall during the week.

The Greene County Department of Human Services Senior Nutrition Program menu for the week of Sept. 16 – Sept. 20 is as follows: Monday—Macaroni and cheese, three bean salad, stewed tomatoes, tropical fruit; Tuesday—Kielbasa with sauerkraut, carrots, baked beans, pears; Wednesday—Chicken Divan, Sonoma Vegetable mix, fruit cup, white rice, chocolate pudding; Thursday—Hungarian Goulash, broccoli/cauliflower, egg noodles, lemon cake; Friday—Tuna salad over mixed greens, potato salad, marinated carrots, fresh fruit. All persons age 60 and older and spouses are invited to join for lunch. Suggested donation is $4 per meal. Congregate dining reservations are required at least a day in advance by noon by calling the appropriate center.
