STAMFORD — The Headwaters Arts Center presents a Wet Plate Photography Workshop with Mark Burnham on Saturday, September 21 from 10am-3pm at the Headwaters Center for the Arts. 66 Main Street in Stamford.  Students will be guided through the processes of the wet plate technique, from making wet plates, to the long, slow exposures required. No previous photography is necessary and all participants will have the opportunity to make multiple unique images to take home. The cost to register is $50, and covers all materials and fees, space is limited.  Registration is open now at www.roxburyartsgroup.org.

Wet plate photography is one of the earliest forms of photography and involves coating a tin or glass plate with a light-sensitive chemical, putting the plate into a camera and then exposing it for 15 to 20 minutes. It comes from a time when photography was an art that balanced composition, technical skill and the knowledge of chemical processes.  Mark Burnahm is a lifelong photography enthusiast who has studied the art of wet plate collodion photography with experts John Coffer at “Camp Tintype” and Lisa Elmaleh at the Penumbra Foundation, NYC. Crafting numerous plates in his Roxbury, NY studio, Mark’s work combines historical techniques with a personal artistic vision.

Slow down and dive into the historic and captivating world of wet plate photography, guided by a passionate and skilled photographer on Saturday September 21, 2024 from 10am to 3pm at the Headwaters Arts Center, 66 Main Street in Stamford, NY. Space is limited to 5 participants and registration is available now at www.roxburyartsgroup.org
