MIDDLEBURGH - The Middleburgh girls varsity team won last Thursday by a score of 26-20 over Margaretville.
The Knights fought hard tonight for the victory leading 8-0 after the first eight minutes at home and 10-5 at the half.
Peyton Yung had her third-double double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Kay Layton had seven points and nine rebounds. Gabby Armlin scored three points and Madison Randaisi had two points. It was a hard fought victory for a team that has made significant strides throughout the season.
The team defense was excellent and allowed Middleburgh to pull out the victory. The team had 20 defensive rebounds, 15 total steals and five blocked shots.
On Friday, the Knights fell in a close game, 49-36, to Mekeel Christian Academy at home.
Middleburgh lost a close game against Mekeel The half time score was 23-18 Mekeel, but Mekeel pulled away in the second half. Kay Layton led Middleburgh with her first double-double of the season, 16 points and 12 rebounds. Payton Yung had 14 points and seven rebounds. three blocks and three steals.
