DELHI – On January 15, 2025, John Pierre Regazzi was sentenced to a state prison term of no less than two years and no more than six years for violating the terms of his probation sentence.

On August 24, 2021, officers were called to an address in the Village of Delhi for a burglary in process.  Delhi Police Officers Tiffany McLoughlin and Tiffany Croizer and Deputy Logan Flavell of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded. Upon arrival, officers confronted a man who had broken into another’s residence. The victim, who per office policy remains unnamed, had locked herself in her bedroom. The man was arrested and identified as John Pierre Regazzi.

Eventually, John Pierre Regazzi pled guilty to Burglary in the Third Degree and was placed on probation supervision in April of 2022.

On August 1, 2024, John Pierre Regazzi was arrested and charged with assault. After being arraigned, Mr. Regazzi was served with a Temporary Order of Protection protecting a separate unnamed victim. It is alleged that John Pierre Regazzi shortly afterwards made numerous calls to the victim with the intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm her.

On October 11, 2024, the Delaware County Department of Probation filed a Violation of Probation Petition accusing the Defendant of violating the terms of his probation. Included in the Petition were allegations of not only the assault charges, but repeated drug use by the Defendant. Mr. Regazzi later admitted to the drug use in court.

On November 14, 2024, the Delaware County Grand Jury returned a one count Indictment charging Mr. Regazzi with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a Class E Felony. The defendant is presumptively innocent of those charges, therefore, that case, and the underlying assault case are still pending.

On January 15, 2025, John Pierre Regazzi was brought before Judge Gary Rosa, Acting Delaware County Judge, for sentencing. First Assistant District Attorney Schuyler Konior Kinneman argued that the Court should impose the maximum sentence allowable under the law due to Mr. Regazzi’s newest violent charges and for his willful disobedience of the Court’s orders. ADA Kinneman noted that not only was Mr. Regazzi alleged to have violated Judge Rosa’s orders, but Judge Mathew Burkert’s of the Delhi Town Court and Judge Chad Hall’s of the Walton Village Court as well.

Judge Rosa agreed that imprisonment was necessary but refused to impose the maximum sentence.  The Court sentenced Regazzi to an indeterminate term of incarceration of no less than two years and no more than six years.

District Attorney Shawn Smith commended Detective Tiffany Croizer of the Delhi Village Police Department, Sergeant Michael Ferraro of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, and Probation Officer Nathaniel Furman for their work on the case.

First Assistant Schuyler Konior Kinneman presented the case to the Grand Jury and gave argument before the County Court.

Indictments and Criminal Complaints are allegations, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
