SCHOHARIE – The Schoharie Economic Enterprise Corp (SEEC) is thrilled to  announce the continuation of its locally-funded grant initiative, the SEEC Placemaking: Curb Appeal  Program, into 2025. Building on the outstanding success of the 2024 program, SEEC tracked more  than $175,329 total investment across 11 projects in 7 communities.

Martha Hacklin, Jefferson Art Room, enthusiastically remarked, “I keep my SEEC sign out front and  get lots of positive feedback each weekend. I am so excited for what I have been able to add to  Jefferson’s Main Street!”

In 2024, the program saw painted storefronts, upgraded windows, improved signage, added  porches and landscaping to local businesses and public spaces, fostering community pride. Business  owners reported increased engagement from both residents and visitors, attributing the upgrades  to a rise in morale and sales. Each owner proudly hired local contractors bolstering the local  economic impact.

2024 Project Sites:

Jefferson Art Room, the Hewitt Building, Charlotteville General Store, Gallupville House, Iron  Horse Tattoo, Green Wolf Brewing, Second Chance Retail, The Forget Me Not Soda Shoppe,  Schoharie Mercantile, Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church and Lappeus Funeral Home

“This overwhelming positive response underscores the program’s value, ensuring further  investment and growth in 2025, “added Tom Putnam, SEEC Chairman.

Commercial businesses and property owners located in the Village centers and hamlets are eligible  with preference given to historic district improvements. Grant awards are up to $5,000 and may  receive free design consultation.

SEEC will host an informational Zoom session on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. To sign up for the  session or submit your application, visit www.seecny.org. Applications are now available online and  must be submitted by March 2, 2025. Funding awards will be announced by the end of March, with  project completion targeted for December 2025.
