Walton Residents Arrested for Alleged Stay Away Order Violation

WALTON – On Tuesday morning, December 31st, 2024, Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested three Walton Residents following a traffic stop in the Village of Walton. 

On December 31st, 2024, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were patrolling on Delaware Street in the Village of Walton and observed a vehicle with a taillight out and a non-functioning license plate light. Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the occupants, 37-year-old Aaron Howard, 36-year-old Courtney Condon and 75-year-old Joan Howard, all of Walton NY.

Further investigation of the incident revealed that Aaron Howard and Courtney Condon had an active full stay away order of protection in place, protecting Joan Howard from them.  

Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested and charged Joan Howard with one count of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor of the New York State Penal Law and Facilitating Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the Second Degree, an unclassified misdemeanor of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. 

Deputies arrested Condon for one count of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a Class A misdemeanor in the New York State Penal Law. 

Sheriff’s Deputies also arrested and charged Aaron Howard with one count of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree and one count of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, both Class A Misdemeanor in the New York State Penal Law. Aaron Howard was additionally charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the Second Degree and Operating a Motor Vehicle with Knowledge of Being Suspended, both Unclassified Misdemeanors and issued Traffic Summonses for Unlicensed Operator, No/Inadequate Lights, No/Inadequate Plate Lamps, Uninspected Motor Vehicle, and Driver’s View Obstructed, all violations in the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

All individuals were processed and released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in the Village of Walton Court at a later date to answer the charges.
