DAVENPORT — On Wednesday February 19th, 2025, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported two car head on motor vehicle accident on County Highway 12 in the Town of Davenport. The initial report indicated one person was entrapped in one of the vehicles.
Once on scene, responding emergency medical personnel attempted to perform life-saving measures, however, were unsuccessful and subsequently pronounced 63-year-old Jean M. Bedard of Davenport deceased.
53-year-old Richard Sanford also of Davenport suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
Members of the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit were called to the scene where the roadway remained closed for several hours while the crash was reconstructed by investigators.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by members of the New York State Police, East Meredith Fire Department, Pindars Corners Fire Department, Davenport Fire Department, Delaware County Ambulance and AMR.
