SHARON SPRINGS — Blue Star Farm & Cidery in Sharon Springs is hosting their first Hard Cider Making class on Saturday, February 8th from 11:00-3:00 PM at the new cidery location in Sharon Springs! This is an educational outing or even fun date night that is worth checking out!
Learn the in-depth process of making hard cider from apple selection to fermentation and bottling with Blue Star Owner and apple expert, Paul Novko, who is also the Village of Sharon Springs Deputy Mayor.
Each person will participate in pressing cider to prepare it to ferment in a container to take home so you can enjoy the finished product. The Blue Star Farm & Cidery makes their own sweet cider on site with commercial apple pressing equipment.
Novko mentioned, “It’s going to be a hands-on activity where each step of the process will be completed by the participants who will be able to finish the project at home.”
This is an exciting next step in the adventure for Blue Star Farm & Cidery, which started back in 2017 as a farm venture and has since grown with the acquisition of the “old Beekman warehouse” on Route 20 at the end of June 2024. This new cidery location is as convenient as it gets, being about 30 feet away from the current farm property with an apple orchard and all!
The Hard Cider Making Class on Feb 8th has a limited class size and you must be 21 or older to attend. The cost is $50 per person, with all materials provided. Please sign up by reaching out to Blue Star Farm’s Facebook Page or call 607-353-2667 and leave a message.
Blue Star Farm & Cidery is open Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday from 10-4 and is located at 582 US-20, Sharon Springs, NY.
