It's Margaretville and SK In Delaware League Title Game

DELAWARE LEAGUE  – It came as no surprise, but after the opening round of the Delaware League tournament it will be Margaretville and South Kortright/Andes playing for the title on Feb. 20 at SUNY Delhi. The boys championship game is set for 7:30 p.m.

Margaretville came from behind to defeat Stamford/Jefferson 47-41 on their home court Tuesday. Ryan Sanford led scoring with 20 points on the night for Margaretville and teammates Connor Wayman and Hunter Balcom chipped in eight and seven points, respectively. S/J  got 12 points and 15 rebounds from Max Eisel and Leland Donato-Williamson added 10 and 10. Gavin VanEtten and Pat Terk added eight points each.  S/J led through three quarters of play, but the Blue Devils erased the deficit in the final quarter and went on for the win. 

South Kortright earned its championship seat by defeating Charlotte Valley 62-35 in Tuesday's mini tournament opener. Jack Byrne led SK/A with 11 points on the night with Parker Popp, JB Trimbell and Skylar MacIntyre all chipping in 10 points each. Cole Whitbeck turned in the game high score of 14 points to lead CV and Jaleel Thomas added 10 points.

Gilboa/Roxbury defeated Windham 75-40 in the tournament first round. Jordan Johnston led the way with 19 points for GCR and Cody Ciaravino added another 15 and Blake Albano chimed in 14 more. Payton Dempsey was the high man for WAG with 15 points and Jacob Schwartz added eight points.

Windham defeated Hunter-Tannersville 62-52 on Monday in a non league game at WAJ. It took overtime to clinch it. They will be repaired in the playoffs this week. Owen Pellettier led scoring with 17 points for WAJ and he pulled down 11 rebounds,  Payton Dempsey scored 15 points and Gideon Glennon added 23 points. 

Cherry Valley-Springfield defeated Charlotte Valley 47-40 last Friday in non-league action.Cole Whitbeck scored 14 points to lead the wildcats and Simon Cowles chimed in another nine points.

Morris defeated Gilboa/Roxbury 74-53 last Friday in a non-league pairing. Cody Ciaravino led GCR with 21 points on the night and Jordan Johnston added nine more.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton defeated Roxbury/Gilboa on Monday, 50-42. Ciaravino scored 12 points for GCR in that non-league pairing and Johnston scored seven points.

In the second round of the tournament, Charlotte Valley was set to host Jefferson/Stamford, both JV and Varsity games on Feb. 13, after press time.
