[Local History from the Old Stone Fort] Newspaper Ad for 1860 Republican Ticket

Written By The Mountain Eagle on 2/16/25 | 2/16/25

This newspaper advertisement from The Schoharie Patriot was for the Republican Party ticket for the election of 1860. It hangs on the wall in the Jackson Law Office which is part of the Old Stone Fort Museum complex. Among those listed besides Abraham Lincoln was Simon H Mix who ran for Congress but lost by less than 1%.

Mix later served as the Colonel commanding the 3rd NY Cavalry during the Civil War.

This piece was recently researched by the Fort’s Clay Edmunds.
